The Bible is pretty clear that there needs be a balanced relationship between our faith and its expression in good works.

Jennie,

Yes it does.

In other words, just shut up and act responsibly, like everyone else who does good things but doesn't blow Gabriel's horn for him.

SHOCK ! ! ! some are athiest and nice towards others at the same time. I'm sure you will make that out to being something they didn't think they were...

Self satisfied as#@&%e !

We are told by G-d to tell others the Good News. No way around that. It's what believers do. And we were told, the World will hate the message you tell them, because they hated me (Yeshua HaMashiach) first.

There are many wonderful people and atheists who don't believe. They do wonderful works and they don't let others know, and they are very humble in their manners. Awesome.

Should I not tell these wonderful people that the road is washed out ahead and that they will drive off the cliff and perish if they don't get the message to stop and turn around? What kind of a person or child of Adonai would I be if I didn't say something to help them?

better than your personal laziness dictates

How do you know he's lazy?

You don't know.

Why do you project your runaway mind onto others?

Blame Tony.

He said this thread is all about "a serious matter."

Abridged version:

Someone must have been telling lies about Josef K., he knew he had done nothing wrong but, one morning, he was arrested.
...
the hands of one of the gentleman were laid on K.'s throat, while the other pushed the knife deep into his heart and twisted it there, twice. As his eyesight failed, K. saw the two gentlemen cheek by cheek, close in front of his face, watching the result. "Like a dog!" he said, it was as if the shame of it should outlive him.

Should I not tell these wonderful people that the road is washed out ahead and that they will drive off the cliff and perish if they don't get the message to stop and turn around?

Well, that's an interesting question. Here's one way to think about it:

Sometime around twenty years ago a bridge on the highway between Vancouver and Squamish washed out in an intense rainstorm. It was pitch black, raining like the end of the world, and several cars drove right into the chasm and were carried down to the sea. Then one guy somehow saw the washout in time to stop. He parked his vehicle across the road, to let others know that the were in danger of driving off the cliff and perishing. He saved some lives. But, of course, some drivers who saw his pickup truck sideways in the road in front of them just swerved around it and... and perished.

So, a parable of sorts. Klimmer gets in our way to warn us of the doom ahead, thereby saving those who will listen from damnation.

But there's another side of this to be considered. What of the man who cries "Fire" in the crowded theater? What of the lunatic who blocks our path screaming of monsters that will devour us if we don't turn around?

What would you -- you, Glenn Klimmer -- say to a man who blocked your path into the school you teach at, screaming that there were dinosaurs inside who would rend you limb from limb if you did not acknowledge the supremacy of the Lizard Men from Alpha Centauri?

That man, the tormented soul who is blocking your path, and screaming of the Lizard People, or just screaming unintelligible obscenities, is just as sincere in his beliefs as you are, and yet you would have no problem calling him insane, right?

Do you understand what most of us see when you tell us we are damned if we don't acknowledge the supremacy of your god?

Sure lots of name calling and bullying, and it's not coming from me.

Is it possible that you guys can ever debate or argue nicely? Ever?

In a official debate format you guys lose just by the shear amount of bullying you do.

Geeze... I go on vacation and look at this!

As you can see I have not been banned. Instead we were in Montana climbing ice, skiing, having the kid play in snow, you know... The stuff that this forum is suppose to be about.

Two... The Boob thread IS a joke. It is a distraction from the gun thread and yes I knew it would eventually get nuked because that is ST's nature. It's nothing to argue about, point fingers over, name call, etc.

Maybe we need to start a thread on Beer! No, no, NO! Dear lord I am not encouraging alcoholism or driving drunk, etc. Can a thread just be for fun, EVER?

No name calling from me but there can be no debate concerning faith, ZERO, between a true believer who thinks to the point of certainty that his is the one and only true path and those who don't share that faith.

"...there can be no debate concerning faith, ZERO, between a true believer who thinks to the point of certainty that his is the one and only true path and those who don't share that faith."

Worth repeating.

One serious reason we have so many problems in the world today.

Also; "...Do you understand what most of us see when you tell us we are damned if we don't acknowledge the supremacy of your god?"

I thought this was a reasonable question, and am curious what Klimmer's answer would be.

It is faith based on physical empirical evidence. And not just a little bit, but a great overwhelming mass of physical evidence.

It's not a blind faith.

What will you all say when it comes to pass just as Yeshua foretold it all would?

Great men (and women) believe in G-d and the Bible, and know Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach:

Copernicus

Tycho Brahe

Johannes Kepler

Galileo

Newton

George Washington

Even Einstein to a large degree . . .

Ah, never mind.
I guess a reasonable answer to a reasonable question was too much to expect (see the first part of my post).

"What will you all say when it comes to pass just as Yeshua foretold it all would?"

Probably the same thing you'd say if it doesn't come to pass. But that's just a wild guess.

cheers

I've been away from ST for a long while and once I saw this thread, I remembered why I stopped reading this forum. As was so eloquently expressed below:

And what is making my blood boil is the really wretched remarks that those who felt the thread was out of place here must be prudes or ugly jealous women. It REALLY pisses me off that these take-down intimidation remarks are almost exclusively aimed at women DESPITE THE FACT that women have been a very minority voice in ths entire discussion. MISOGYNY. And that, in my opinion, is what is at the heart of quite a few of the images posted in the Boobs thread, despite how loudly some proclaim they love women and celebrate the female body.

Be that as it may, it also makes me depressed because although there is clearly diversity of opinion from both men and women about how they found the images, the deletion of the thread has unleashed the most amazing torrent of misogynist bullsh#t. Any women who dares to disagree with you guys is vilified and heaped with derogatory adjectives.

You crusty old farts should stop. your. fvcking. whinging. long. enough. to. take. a. good. hard. look. in. the. fvcking. mirror. and. ask. yourself. why. the. women. don't. want. to. play. with. you. anymore.

I'm no prude, I'm a real climber, and while I don't get bent out of shape about nudity (or pictures of boobs), it's the unbelievable onslaught of shitty comments that come up on this forum about women that has driven this woman climber away from Supertopo.
