What up Adam? It's me Mike Cowper! Ain't hiding nuthin. I've met quite a few people at the crag who ID'd me and the first thing they say is, "Thanks for your thread!". It usually goes pretty well after that.
I just try and be nice and reasonable like I am in real life and if I do get out of line, then apologize for my actions. Pretty simple really. I've also learned that's its a lot easier to get through to people with reason then yelling at them and calling them names...
I'm not afraid to use my real name but I try not to post anything that could get me in trouble, the credibility I gain is well worth it in my opinion. Big Mike is actually a long time nickname and a lot of people around town know me strictly as that.

You not knowing someone isn't an indicator of someone being anonymous.--Khanom
You live less than thrity miles from me. We will be meeting personally shortly, I can almost guarantee. It's a small, small, small, tiny little world, after all. It would take me less than a half day to find you in Greeley Hill, unless you invite me up by p.m. I'd be delighted to make a friend there.

Dude you stand out in any crowd
This is actually very true. I am the meeting point for all my friends for outdoor concerts.. ;)
Do you remember when pennywise played whistler on the first wssf? The stage was up on the hill on a slant? I was in every picture from that show, the big tall guy towering over everyone else in the mosh pit. There was also a Kokanee commercial filmed of it as well where I was clearly visible. As a result of my stature I get a little less privacy anyways..
I'm not afraid to use my real name but I try not to post anything that could get me in trouble,
I meant this more in a legal sense than a political sense.
And this is the precise nut of the problem. For instance, have you wondered at all at the almost complete lack of vocal opposition to heliskiing in garibaldi park? If you rationally walk through the issue the argument to kick out the powerful local employer wins the day.
Problem is the powers that be won't let that happen until the hut system goes in. When that happens there will be too much bad pr to let the helos keep operating back there. Wb owns this town and WH so they get carte blanche even if we do raise a stink about it.
Tell you what I'm gonna do though, because the whole thing is so bs. They are taking sledding terrain away so helos don't have to deal with us. That's bs. There is a limit on the type of terrain sleds can access. It has to be near a logging road, and mellow enough to allow us to climb up the slopes. "Mellow" is a relative term these days but helos can go anywhere and ski tourers already have half the valley set aside for them as park plus the Duffey.
So I'm gonna write a letter stating that if the are going to consider Heli skiing to be non-motorized because the Heli is only used as a means of transport, then snowmobile skiing should also be considered non motorized and they should allow us to access to the park for transportation purposes.. ;)

The only reason I know who Toker Villian is is because someone let the cat out of the bag.
Wrong again, "Bruce".
I "let the cat out of the bag" from the getgo when Werner challenged me on the Sheriff Lobo thread.
Anonymous posters on a climber's forum, a culture that admires boldness, are bottom rung tossers, coward.

It's at the big white ski resort, it's built with four huge logs and a bunch of 4x8s with some pipes coming out the top. Something to do at night other than get wasted.. ;)

No sh#t dude, you're about three fries and a happy meal short of Heath Ledger's Joker. I'm going to have bad dreams tonight, I just know it. Until things change I blame Hartouni.
what?!
hey, I use my own name and it ends up being very strange sometimes when strangers come up to me... but it's part of the posting thing, and keeps me from posting crap you wouldn't want you Mom to know you'd written... which is a good think IMHO...
bvb is another unmistakable character out in the world... if he had Tarbuster's wardrobe you'd be thinking of the Panama Red cartoon character on that NRPS album cover...

yes indeed, but I figured it out pretty quickly...
...and while strange I don't dislike it (otherwise I'd stop posting and go away, which might be welcome for some)
my takeaway thoughts from meeting Vitaliy M. at PGSV were: 1) he's taller than I thought and 2) I should change my avatar picture to one where I'm not smiling (I wasn't that day)...

Ha ha! The real world and the Taco are completely separate, except for Big Mike who straddles the divide like the Colossus of Rhodes.

I have often had people come up to me and say things like "I like the things you post..." on here, or on RC.com(a few years ago, not much going on there any more).
When I ask what their username is, they often don't want to say. Sometimes they just don't post much, or ever. People would be surprised at the number of people who keep up with these forums but never post. But sometimes I get the feeling, when they act weird about it, that it is because they are embarrassed about the stuff the do post. The ones who say "it's the internet; it's not real" are generally in this category.

Burchey, you seem to be fitting in pretty well here, and you seem to be just about the same as over on the Whitney boards.
This atmosphere is a lot more open, don't you find?
