Tried researching a similar thread - just found a bunch of Werner-worshiping. Good point about the "just because I don't know them" thing. Didn't give that much consideration. I guess I was more speaking to things like the J-tree chat I had, or people who go out of their way to only have pictures of their dog or horse or a flower or their face but in a full balaclava - which doesn't really bother me unless they're flamboyant in their posting. This isn't just on the Taco, and to be fair - the Taco is the most tolerable forum I've found (climbing related) thus far. All things considered.
Yer still all gunna die.

Hi,
I have my flaws, my good points and I am always me.
At this point of my life I'm overall boring and I love my boring, no drama, life. It's about time.

No sh#t dude, you're about three fries and a happy meal short of Heath Ledger's Joker. I'm going to have bad dreams tonight, I just know it. Until things change I blame Hartouni.

I get ID'ed a lot at my local crags since I use my real name online on most forums. I have no idea what most people are thinking when they say they know me from a forum, but you can kind of see the idea rolling around in their heads for a bit, a kind of smile of recognition, and then a resultant facial expression that tells you to keep the conversation going or say, "Well, bye!" Ha ha ha.

Don't lose the stache. Rock it with pride.
As far as the weed goes in the closet - I'm definitely in the closet, but not sure about the weed part. Tried it a couple times, couldn't think straight for a week afterwards. I think I should stick to the whiskey.

I'm also a firm believer that I don't have much use for a slight majority of the people I meet.

I kinda wish I had just used my real name for my username, just for clarity purposes. Which is: Michael T. Lagueux II, D.C. I own a chiropractic office called Positive Edge Chiropractic in San Diego (Scripps Ranch) and I'm obsessed with Mt. Woodson. Nice to meet everyone! Hit me up, I'm always down to climb with new partners!

IOW, few are really anonymous here. Many know each other. You not knowing someone isn't an indicator of someone being anonymous.
That is amongst a very few. You are for all intents and purpose anonymous if you don't fully id yourself on a public forum. I have no idea who you or Locker etc. are. The only reason I know who Toker Villian is is because someone let the cat out of the bag. Anyway it still dosn't answer the question of why. I don't do it but only for fairly unique reasons. One, I'm semi - retired so am essentially beholden to no one in the market place of employment. This is a huge and fully legitimate reason to maintain anonymity. The other is hopefully your mother never figures out who you are when she's lurking the ST.
Believe it or not to a degree I reveal my ID as a social experiment and I strongly suspect that at least to some degree I have been "Black listed" in certain fields of work due to an inability to "Keep your head down and your nose clean". I guess at some point someone might even beat me to a pulp with a 2x4 at which point I can say "Experiment successfully completed!"
One things for sure, If I really had to pull a pay cheque I would likely not use my real name.
I think its a really interesting question. Thanks for bringing it up. Merry Christmas too!
