Pay attention to half of what you read, and believe even less.

A lot of times "hooking up with the FBI to get info" translates to "I just spent 6 hours obsessing on Google and found out sh#t that doesn't mean sh#t anymore, but I will try and act like it does and I got it through my CONNECTIONS."

I'm free with my info to anyone who asks, and respect the privacy of those who wish to remain an avatar. Even when they are complete asses when instituting the General Dickwad Theory (See Below)

The only exception to this rule is Cragman, because I am always trying to send him a PM about some plane crash or climb and his PMs are off :D Irritatin'!

Good one bvb.

I make no effort to hide behind anything. I am the same opinionated stubborn bastard in person as I am here on the forum. I am also equally funny in either venue. I stand behind, beside, infront and all over what I say in posts. I have no need of false avatars to hide my opinions. I am sorry some do have to hide. Could it be abject embarrasment?

I've met quite a few ST lurkers. We climbed for a bit, they asked "are you weschrist from supertopo?" I asked "why, are we going to fight?" They laugh, say how much they enjoy my posts, and we continue having a good time.

This is funny as I have had many of the same encounters. When some one says "oh i read what you posted" I usually respond sorry if I offended and we go on with the day just fine. I do get many more positive comments than my detractors might believe.

May I burn in the Flames of hell if anything I've ever posted on any thread is untrue.

It was the first iteration of Mouse from Merced who tried that, the second iteration who decided to forgo that, and the third coming was the one everyone "knows" now.

I thought about rehab, going on the Taco Wagon. I still may, it's a new year, WTF.

Burchey & Bermingham & kkBombz, we're all in a closet smoking a reefer, see, and burchey can't find the door handle! Sheeit! No wonder we all stink of weed! I'm up on the top shelf, kkBombz is flat on the floor, and Burchey can't open the goddam door!

It's all true, if you want it to be. Don't hide behind an "onimitee" tree.

What up Adam? It's me Mike Cowper! Ain't hiding nuthin. I've met quite a few people at the crag who ID'd me and the first thing they say is, "Thanks for your thread!". It usually goes pretty well after that.

I just try and be nice and reasonable like I am in real life and if I do get out of line, then apologize for my actions. Pretty simple really. I've also learned that's its a lot easier to get through to people with reason then yelling at them and calling them names...

I'm not afraid to use my real name but I try not to post anything that could get me in trouble, the credibility I gain is well worth it in my opinion. Big Mike is actually a long time nickname and a lot of people around town know me strictly as that.

Dude you stand out in any crowd

This is actually very true. I am the meeting point for all my friends for outdoor concerts.. ;)

Do you remember when pennywise played whistler on the first wssf? The stage was up on the hill on a slant? I was in every picture from that show, the big tall guy towering over everyone else in the mosh pit. There was also a Kokanee commercial filmed of it as well where I was clearly visible. As a result of my stature I get a little less privacy anyways..

I'm not afraid to use my real name but I try not to post anything that could get me in trouble,

I meant this more in a legal sense than a political sense.

And this is the precise nut of the problem. For instance, have you wondered at all at the almost complete lack of vocal opposition to heliskiing in garibaldi park? If you rationally walk through the issue the argument to kick out the powerful local employer wins the day.

Problem is the powers that be won't let that happen until the hut system goes in. When that happens there will be too much bad pr to let the helos keep operating back there. Wb owns this town and WH so they get carte blanche even if we do raise a stink about it.

Tell you what I'm gonna do though, because the whole thing is so bs. They are taking sledding terrain away so helos don't have to deal with us. That's bs. There is a limit on the type of terrain sleds can access. It has to be near a logging road, and mellow enough to allow us to climb up the slopes. "Mellow" is a relative term these days but helos can go anywhere and ski tourers already have half the valley set aside for them as park plus the Duffey.

So I'm gonna write a letter stating that if the are going to consider Heli skiing to be non-motorized because the Heli is only used as a means of transport, then snowmobile skiing should also be considered non motorized and they should allow us to access to the park for transportation purposes.. ;)

I have often had people come up to me and say things like "I like the things you post..." on here, or on RC.com(a few years ago, not much going on there any more).

When I ask what their username is, they often don't want to say. Sometimes they just don't post much, or ever. People would be surprised at the number of people who keep up with these forums but never post. But sometimes I get the feeling, when they act weird about it, that it is because they are embarrassed about the stuff the do post. The ones who say "it's the internet; it's not real" are generally in this category.

I've met a few people at the crags who have read my posts and like them, which is kind of fun. Usually this leads to a day of climbing and good conversation with people.

At the last Facelift, I got a hell of a lot of "Really glad you're here and not dead" comments from fellow 'Topians, which beats hearing the opposite.

It's an interesting dynamic to meet someone in the real world that is a bit of a troll on the boards, and find out they aren't that bad after all. I have also seen the opposite though, so in the end I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round.

And Jeremy, I don't have any idea who you are, but my impression of you thus far is that you really need to grow up. Have no idea what the kid did to piss you off so bad, but maybe you should either take some real action on it or stfu? Just saying.

I haven't seen a whole lot of Burchey's posts, but those I have seen come across as more or less the usual new guy to the crowd, still a bit full of himself and a showoff, but still basically OK. Maybe I have missed something.

In your case, Jeremy, I did a quick scan of some of your postings. Nearly every one has you cussing someone out or saying something negative. Your pics show that you obviously climb pretty well, so no harm no foul on that point. But your postings seem a lot more trollish to me then Burchey's at this point. But that may just be my impression.

Back to topic. Sometimes I wonder how much to let out or not let out on boards, but as has been said I think each forum is different and that's what determines how much you feel comfortable with sharing.

So judgmental, you folks need to relax... People go through mood swings, life events, and sometimes say and do stupid stuff in reaction to things you can't see. The more stupid the stuff they are producing, more likely the bigger the problem.

Heck, I've lost people I've loved and was dealing with illness, family issues, economic problems etc. and the shiest people thought of me during those times with no one asking the all important, "why..." Or "are you alright?" Or even more direct... "What is going on with you? You are not acting like yourself."

Try that before you start blazing away as to who a person really is. The fact that you might be wrong is extremely important. Plus... You might even help them out and get them back on the right track. Just talking can save one's soul.

I'm legitimately frightened of some of these people.... Some will hunt you down and really want to climb with you hard.... It can turn a mess... Plus... If I knew some of these people in real life I'd have to have the authorities on speed dial.. you never know what they're gonna do....

Did you hear about that one guy in Chicago?

He wasn't a climber, but I thought I saw a report with a photo of the guy sitting at his computer with a the distinct Black+Maroon ST header...

He fvcked with a major content provider

A few things to keep in mind, and look back to confirm...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but nobody fuked with Jeremy's TR's or dissed his mudventures

Jeremy was always dishing it out. I for one always took it as humor, even though I've never met the guy and have no interest in mud... but I take everything as humor, life is better that way... or maybe it was all the :)

According to survival, it was this thread (an OT thread that had nothing specifically to do with Jeremy, which he participated in voluntarily) that "made" Jeremy leave

The vast majority of stupidtaco users who have voiced their opinions don't see anything Bouchery (or mechrist) wrote that was particularly harsh or out of line

That Vitality guy though... another one who was piling on Jeremy... something I gather he would enjoy(?)... what's his deal? Totally out of line!!!

Internet bullying is not tolerated here. Please stop. Let's all be nice. Burchey did start some weird discussions/threads, but he could be a good guy in person. We can all get along, or at least try.

True Wes. I really don't know why Jeremy packed up all his toys and left, but he did. It always seemed like he could take what he dished out? Obviously Jer's reaction caused some emails to get sent and the "problem" was dealt with. I don't think it's fair, but that's probably what happened.

Amen, although I wonder if I sometimes offend people when I laugh after they finished yelling at me.

Nothing offends authority figures more than that. Back in my younger days I told a couple of foremen that my Mom was Irish and that they'd have to yell a lot louder than that! It's a wonder I didn't get punched.

Burchey is part of this clusterf*#k over on summitpost composed of him, Daria, or PCT as she's known here, Vitaliy and The Chief. Every thread degenerates into them thumping their chests and calling the others weak-ass posers. For them you have to bash other's acomplishments to feel good about what you've done. Never figured that one out.

So it goes.

Dude, if you're an early riser, you'll thrive.

I do my best work before noon.

I can't tell if you're truly being nicer, or if you're trying to ingratiate yourself with the ST crowd so that you can f*#k with people, but you should post some sort of tutorial on the geologic sh#t you're up to.

I'm a fan of geologic info that I can't truly understand, but try like hell to figure out.

Ever fall, bounce off something, and end up hanging upside down in space spinning on the end of your rope? At first you're not quite sure what's going on, but after awhile you come to, get your bearings, and realize how bad that all sucked - or at least that's what reading this thread seems like so far.

I've always been one of the nicest guys I know. Just not afraid to give sh#t back to those who dish it out. I find it odd that others are obviously joking... but I must be serious and malevolent. I've never seen you give anyone sh#t or say ridiculously stupid sh#t, so...

Besides, I'm writing results for my dissertation... I wouldn't want to reveal how jaded I am about the whole thing... so I am working on my positive voice.

I seriously miss the working life though. If I'm not climbing, I'm sitting in front of this stupid computer running stupid models and/or writing stupid stuff here and/or in my papers or laying in bed trying to figure out how to make it all work.

RE Geology: still love the field, just hate the position I'm in. Not sure what kind of tutorial you would want... the hydrology sh#t I'm doing is pretty dry.

We got Sarah Garlick's book for Christmas. Should be an interesting read. (http://rockclimbinggeology.com/);
