If I was you I'd skip jtree and go to Yosemite. Supposed to be nice this week. Safe travels and let me know if you need a place to stay.

Thanks John! I hope we can get out but my clavicle says otherwise today.. Looks like we will be biking around the park and taking photos instead. Not a bad option ..
Thanks Johntp! We are Howe Sound locals.. We're used to wind. Hopefully the sand is manageable.
Justin! I really wanted to hike El Cap, but the weather just isn't conducive tomorrow and Erin has a friend in LA she really wants to visit, plus she's super stoked about Zion and Bryce Canyon, so no time for Yos this trip!! :(
This wasn't too encouraging either ..
We're currently just north of Eugene. It's a bit moist up here....

Hey Mike, I found myself in a similar situation in JTree years ago where I couldn't climb much. It didn't stop me from having a great time. We were camped at Indian Cove and decided to hike into the Wonderland of Rocks to see if we could find water in the desert. I felt like a kid on a grand adventure again. Have fun, you two.

Cool Wayno! I'm sure we'll have fun whatever we get up to. Life with Erin is always fun. :)
You know I will Justin!! I-5 has been rather moist so far, affording very little in the way of photographic opportunities.
Coming over Shasta should was nuts. I've never seen so much precipitation on the windshield in my life, which is quite significant for someone who is from the wet coast.
Driving up the last hill the water was streaming down the road in waves and had to be at least 2 inches deep.
Erin pointed out that the tires on the car we were passing we're creating their own wake suitable for surfing.
The run-off was everywhere and it was difficult to see with any traffic ahead of us.
We are currently in Castaic just outside of LA.
As luck would have it, a while back we stopped at what would seem to be the most expensive gas station in California.
There we found these palms and Erin took the opportunity to jump for joy.
It's been a long day for both of us and we are eager to reach our destination.

Not this time Jim. Erin has limited time off and my clavicle isn't happy about pulling hard at the moment. I'll be testing the waters tomorrow at Josh and that will determine how much climbing we get in this trip.

Thanks Brian!! Sounds fun! Cali is always worth my time!! I love it down here! I need to come back and spend some serious time down here so I can hang with all my friends !!
Erin and I made it to Santa Monica last night and her friend was kind enough to stay up and receive us.
I love the Eucalyptus trees here !!
We slept in after our late arrival and after breakfast, got the bikes out for a spin.
These plastic bag seat/component covers managed to survive our 2000km plus epic drive!! :)
We went down to the park and headed towards the Santa Monica Pier

It was quite busy..

On the way home we stopped to check out the skate park. The bowls were so sick!
For dinner we went to kayanddaves which was excellent.
Better get to bed now . We are supposed to meet Rolf and Todd in the morning .

Funny, Mike. I was actually in Venice briefly yesterday with my niece but a few blocks away from the beach on Abbot Kinney. It was a gorgeous day at the beach!
