So bring a rake amd do some community work? How much daily traffic does "the strip" see? It sounds like everyone who flies in only stays a few hours or overnight at best. Weird scene?

Speaking of keeping it weird. I was on a solo trip to the springs last week and around 2am i woke and decided to hit the Wizard Tub since i was up and had it to myself. While soaking I noticed flashes of lights on the ground around the tub but couldn't see where they were coming from. They seemed to be coming straight down onto the ground not from the side. I soaked for another 15 minutes before hitting the rack. Seemed kinda weird but not disconcerting.

More likely a trip to the opthamologist is indicated.

Those characters you meet out in Saline are incredible. Anyone ever encountered "fun fun Debbie?"

When my wife and I and two of our kids first arrived, she gave us a tour.
She was wearing a shirt and nothing else and my boys were quite surprised by that. When I asked her why she was called "fun fun Debbie," she said:

"I used to like to get into mischief"

Wind storm came up so strong that night, I had to move into the van to sleep, it was whippin'!

Such an interesting and remote place. I am surprised our mini-van was successful in getting us there.

Part-time Communist: I am amazed by your solo first descents out there. That is some wild, dry and unforgiving stuff you are doing. Impressive to say the least.

The desert abides..and doesn't.

I'm curious what tub that is...Is that the upper upper tub near Steele Pass?

Dan, that’s the cold artesian well near the lake by the mail boxes.
Just got back from a short trip. The springs were nice, hardly anyone there.
a bit of snow on both passes. A little icy in the shade but not a problem with a 4x4 or AWD.

dang Bat are you out there every other month?

Bat have you ever entered the Eureka Valley from the north through the Piper Mountain Wilderness? It's a alternate trail to get some more dirt under your tires.

I try and get out to climb whenever the weather is good. I climbed one day and soaked a day. I have never been through to Eureka that way, I have always gone through Steele Pass or the regular road. I will have to check that out.

Dapper Dan The artesian well(rock reservoir)in Saline Valley that you posted a picture of was on my Dad's ranch. He had friends bring their big dozer in from Olancha and my family pulled three travel trailers in as well. Dad had the dozer cleared all the bushes out(I have a lot of photos) and Dad's name is inscribed on the right side of the lip(Paul Wopschall). Bill Mann has a great picture of it in his book on Saline.
