For the past 25 years I have been visiting this amazing valley at least 2-4 time a year and sometimes more. Yes the hot springs are amazing and the people interesting and cool but the springs are just a small part of what makes this place so great. Lets hear some stories and see some pictures.

Nice post Batrock. Been going there since the early 70's.

Enjoy Thanksgiving. Unfortunately I'll be elsewhere.

Place looks like Madd Maxx, wilde burros attacking at all hours of the knight, booby traps abound, naked people and lawlessness are the norm.
Giant prehistoric lizards....
Can't wait to go back !!!!

Damn, I want to go!

Twice I've tried to get down there but the road or snow was too much for my car. Someday...

I love that place. Here is a link to a solo moto trip I took earlier this year.

Saline Valley is amazing, I did an hour long presentation on Saline Valley for the DPS this past May. Absolutely spectacular place, probably my favorite destination not just for relaxing hot springs and sight seeing (although that is also amazing) but probably my top adventure destination in terms of rugged (jungle magnitude) canyoneering and remoteness. This past April I did a solo first descent straight down Keynot Peak, a canyon that empties out into saline valley, a canyon that gave me 17 rappels, many over 170 ft, with two 250 footers or longer. I never tire of this place, probably been in there over 12-15 times by now.

The people I have met at the hot springs (and their specialized saline vehicles) have been by far some of the most memorable.

Srendi,

Thanks, I have had several over the years and am under no illusion that they are great vehicles but I have been bitten by the bug. I am down to one now, a 1988 Defender 130" Crew Cab. It has an old 3.5 V8 and has been extremely reliable for the last 8 years I have owned it. I have a 3.9 litre V8 sitting in my garage ready to rebuild and install whenever the 3.5 gives out but it is showing no signs of slowing down. This will be my last Land Rover and have no plans on selling it, I will most likely hand it down to my son and daughter for their adventures when they reach driving age.
