I missed Kevin's post on the first go round.

'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form

Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprise of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry
And lose the name of action.

As I was going up the stair
I met a man who wasn't there!
He wasn't there again today,
Oh how I wish he'd go away!

When I came home last night at three,
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall,
I couldn't see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don't you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and please don't slam the door...

Last night I saw upon the stair,
A little man who wasn't there,
He wasn't there again today
Oh, how I wish he'd go away...

Oh man, I remember those tragic days, going with my father to visit his middle-age friend, permanently encased in an iron lung. As a kid I could not imagine such an existence.

Simple twists of fate alright. I only know two people who got attacked, despite being around at the time.

In 1951, Jonas Salk, MD, and his team developed a method to cultivate polio virus in monkey kidney tissue in order to be able to produce large amounts of the vaccine. On Apr. 12, 1955 the results of the Salk vaccine trials showed the vaccine was 80-90% effective and the US government licensed the IPV (inactivated polio vaccine) vaccine the same day. The vaccination program was suspended on May 8, 1955 to investigate paralysis resulting from the vaccine injection; changes to the production method were made and vaccination resumed on May 27, 1955.

Wait just a darned second, Sartre.

How is it that if one is not extant he is able to cogitate?

Point well taken, Mouse, if I do say so myself.

First there is no mountain;
Then there is no chicken and no eggs...

As to ceasing to exist, I've taken the path of just changing into someone else. I have a phone number for Safeway's 'loyalty' program sh#t that isn't real; whenever I have to shop in that awful place I enter the number but change the last digit or two. Most of the time I'm 'loyal' and that's where I've learned to grow.

Sometimes I become a woman, I was once Chinese; the other day I became Hispanic. It's always an amazing experience to have the cashier say something like 'thank you Mr. Chang' and realize you are no longer who you thought you were. I get to come home and tell my wife I've become someone she has never met. The sex can be quite interesting, as it's a new experience for her too; one day I came home and told her 'today I am a woman'. I strongly urge all of you to become someone else and expand your minds.

Good point WM. I think I'll just change into Popeye, won't even have to think, eh?
