I'm off the hook, ChickieChickie. . . I ain't got no photos of myownself doin' snow removal up here above the Arctic Circle.

I do, however, have some pretty cool ones of a hiddie snow removal project Blanchard and I did on my birthday back at Tamarack one year. Our deck was 6 feet under Sierra Cement and we'd shoveled it for something heinous like 10 days runnin'. We were at the point of having to throw each load up 6 feet above us.

SOOOOOOO. . . Blanchard comes hip hop happy puppin' home early one day with a Custom Blanchard One Off Igloo saw for me as a BirDayPemmie. (I still have it. . . I still use it. . . it ROCKS. . . solid oak handles, 60 61 T6 Aluminum and all.)

We spent the next 2 days harvesting igloo blocks off our deck and we built the bitchenest igloo, EVAH, right down to the little alcoves for candles and a real cold sink entrance.

It was RAD!

That sucker lasted til June!

I laminated an artful sign and hung it out above the entrance:

BLANCHARD'S GUEST COTTAGE

Put a candle in a champagne bottle up there to keep the sign lit, crossed some skis over the entrance and hung out out there a lot.

Someday I'm'a gwan hafta sift through all the photos and find those. They're pretty funny.

But. . .until then. . . you'll just have to paint a detailed mental image!

Sista... FIND those photos... sounds magnificent! I love your stories. TFPU!

I have a mental image of where they might be. . . if they're where I think they are, I'll also find some bitchen shots of us getting flooded out down in Owen's River Gorge one day, back before LADWP restored the flow, back when it was a dry river bed.

Man. . . we had a yard sale's worth of garbellion strewn in the river bed, bikes, packs, climbing gear, doggie stuff, doggie. Blanchard was belaying our friend Marlowe on The Gray Area and our friend John and I were waitin' in line. Then, out of the blue, Mike Stassman (may he rest in peace) and Spunky Plunkett ran up the road and stopped above us, sat down and just hung out for a few minutes. Then Strassman bellowed "BROCKMAN, BLANCHARD we'd love to see you get flooded out but we just can't. . . RUN. . . RUN. . . THE WATER'S COMING!"

Huh?

We all just stared at them.

Then he yelled, "LISTEN. . . YOU CAN HEAR IT COMING!"

And I'll be a son of a bitch, there was this distant roar of water coming.

We had NO FRIKKEN IDEA they washed the dry river bed out every once in a while.

DAMN!

So. . . there's Marlowe leading with Blanchard climbing up to above the high water mark. John and I raced like maniacs to get our garbellion out of the river bed, 4 bikes, 4 packs, lunch. . . I'm talkin' LOTS of gear. I got Bianca up to the road and clipped her in to my bike and John lept from a boulder with the last pack just as the water came roaring around the corner.

DOOD!

That river bed went from bone frikken dry to 6 feet of swiftly running water in a matter of minutes.

BEST PART OF THE WHOLE DAY was unclipping Bianca (a platinum Golden retriever - raised in Tucson - Hola Creeeees's doggie, may they both rest in peace) and letting her go fwimmy.

The photos are HILARIOUS!

It was like a Golden Retriever's dream come true. Everybody's playin' 'cept her, she's dirty and hot and wantin' to go fwimmy. . . then WHOOOOOOSH. . . there was water.

It was gone just about as fast as it arrived.

Our minds were blown.

What a life!

:-)
