I love that my mother's birthday lands on the first day of Spring. Somehow it seems so very fitting.

She would be 64 years old today and I miss her daily with the knowledge that she has never left my side.

Celebrated the birthday of my best friend last evening. She'd set up a table for guests to make "offerings" to the universe... little burlap bundles full of laughter, life, love, focus, and so on. A great idea and a fun way to get creative.

YAY, Leggies. . . what a sweet idea. . . I LOVE STUFF LIKE THAT.

Reminds me of garden looms. Have you ever been around them?

My goatie rancher friends had a wonderful celebration on May Day a couple years back that they called the 10 20 50 A.

10 = years on their ranch

20 = years married

50th = BirDay of Linda (wife/mom)

A = the Adoption of Alicia (my GodDaughter)

May Pole and all.

Well. . . they took their wedding rings and have them melted down and made into 2 new rings and 2 pendants, one for each daughter. And they had a big wedding, marrying the family with their new daughter.

IT WAS RAD.

Abo = Dad, built a garden loom. . . in their garden and there was a little table next to it with pens and scissors and yarn and charms and ribbon and fabric and sheers and neat little pieces of card stock . . . people were invited to weave something into the loom. People wrote sweet little cards with love wishes and the thing was the coolest thing I'd ever seen at a party. I have a photo of it somewhere.

Abo took it off the frame and re-stretched it on another frame and hung it in their covered patio so it wouldn't get wrecked. Then he strung up another one that just lives in the garden and people add to it all the time as parts of it dry up and blow away, new stuff is added, with everything from seed heads to feathers and little hearts and pictures. . . it's BITCHEN.

Here are some shots of some I ripped off GOOG (rhymes with spooge)

ENJOY, Sista!

eKaterinaBallerina ... Those are BEAUTIFUL! I am completely inspired by what you've shared, thank you so much. I have a huge and beautiful backyard and you've provided some GREAT ideas. I also have a wonderful front porch that faces West. It would be fantastic to have one in place there too.

TFPU, sista love!

I bit the bullet last evening and bought myself a new pack...

Cragman, congrats on finally being home. Happy you had a beautiful drive. We had a bit of a dust storm roll thru... crazy weather today, but beautiful nonetheless. May your night be as peaceful and ideal as it sounds.

Studly... are those crayfish or crickets?!

:)

Guess who just paid off her car, in full?! THIS GIRL!

WOW, it feels amazing to have taken on such a huge responsibility of owing the bank for a car, and now... it's all mine, free and clear! So proud.

Next up, car repairs, then... feet in the sand... sans shoes!

I adore crickets, Steve.

:) (ha)

Kath... I sure as hope so!! The temps here are perfect!
(that pack WAS a steal... I couldn't believe it. It's roomier than the one I have... which means I guess I get to carry even more gear! I'm fine with that!)

Enjoying music...

SistaLove. . . that Adele video was . . . ummmmmm. . . SofaKing good, I had to actually stop working and sit down in front of the BigMac and WATCH THE WHOLE THING. . . none of this wander in and out of the sunroom catch-as-catch-can. . . that had to be witnessed!

She's really, really talented.

TFPU!

Can you imagine being in the same room with her?

WHOA.

A N D . . . I know what you mean about the bigger the pack the more you can carry. . . I'm the one who's got everybody's backs out in the woods. You can take the girl out of the ambulance but you can't take the ambulance out of the girl!

HA!

HAVE FUN LOADIN' THAT SUCKER!

And get yourownself one of those suck-on-the-hose-kinda-water-bag-units, that way you won't have to take your heavy load off and put it back on just to stay hydrated.
