They bested the old time by about 8%. (9405 seconds vs. 8631 seconds).

Ron, wonder if AH has been to the Leap.

Bears Reach, ala Dan O, is waiting... :)

Very impressive feat!

Is the Nose in under two hours the new 4-minute mile...?

I'm thinking this record will stand for some time.

Be interesting to take a pool for the next record. Years off?

I'm really impressed with the prep, Alex's Spring efforts, Hans honed the route over years. Then two runs in two days, three days off. Then...Rocket Fuel!

Again, a toast to the lads.

Now it's time for me to start my day, Ha!

By the decade:

4:22:00 Peter Croft and Hans Florine, 1992
2:48:50 Yuji Hirayama and Hans Florine, 2002 (35.6% delta)
2:23:51 Alex Honnold and Hans Florine, 2012 (14.8% delta)

Another 16% puts it down under 2:00????

"It's not so important who starts the game but who finishes it."
John Wooden

So what about the guy who starts and finishes. (Florine 1990-2012).

EDIT:

Not to slight other pioneers, but I couln't find any that lined up nicely on decades going back from 2012.

1991 Peter Croft, Dave Schultz 4:48
1991 Hans Florine, Andres Puhvel 6:01
1990 Peter Croft, Dave Schultz 6:40
1990 Hans Florine, Steve Schneider 8:06
1986 John Bachar, Peter Croft 10:05
1975 Jim Bridwell, John Long, Bill Westbay 17:45

Didn't even want to bring up the comparison of the 2 hour Nose to the 4 minute mile even though it is obvious. We should savor this before looking to the next for sure.

However, Nose in a Day might be a better comparison to the four minute mile. Hundreds have now run the four minute mile. You can count on one hand those who have done sub 2:38.

It was 2:23?

So they're done getting their rack and ropes together? When do they start climbing?

Wow, really blew by the old record.

Since some guys asked, AH has been to the Leap. I think he soloed all the .10s years ago. He also onsighted the Silly Willy crack.

My god. Honnold is a mutant. An athlete of unprecedented ability.

That Hans, at nearly 50 years old can hang with him is the thing I really can't wrap my head around.

Yes, it is nice that they got the record, but as we used to ask all those who climbed the Nose "Did you do Stovelegs free?'
