I had to retract my last comment.

I saw Survivals quote but was thinking it was Jaybro's.

My bad.

Nice quote Bruce.

Jaybro, let's fire up that thread!

Yeah, well, in this culture, posting pics like that of a minor will get you some time in the pokey (not to mention the ST boot). Might want to consider that, Rox. We like you around here.

I would not classify Roxj picture as porn, it's quite beautiful.

I also appreciate the beauty of apogee's coffee woman.

Several hundred posts ago I officially declared this thread to be the all time Fastest to 1000™, and someone in the peanut gallery had the gall to heckle Nature by suggesting it should knott count as he had "posted 100 times" (or words to that effect). Even if you removed all of Nature's posts up to the point it reached 1000, this thread still beats all other contenders by an order of magnitude.

Someone mentioned the Any hot Guys Around Here? thread. I went and checked, and it took 7 days (vs 3 for this one). Now if you removed PTC's co-conspirator Matt's hundreds upon hundreds of machine gun style posts under myriad user-names (banned again and again), that thread wouldn't have even gone anywhere near 1000 before the Boob Baring Bimbo™ deleted it and ran with her tail between her legs...

So there!

pinko commies with a Fish endorsement?

I have dropped a couple G on his goods but....

Edit: HK - that would be Chaz. And at the time I had 70 posts. None with the intent of adding to the count. And far be it from me to post in my own OP. dude needs to go fly a kite!

I thought the "post in own" to bump was referring to PTC in THAT thread, not Nature, here. Pretty sure that was the case.

“To me, ST is a source of entertainment, so to speak. Call it a campfire or whatever. I don't personally care that much about the climbing / non-climbing ratio, because I don't personally talk that much about climbing. Yeah, I do it -- some... not as much as the hard-core elite, but as much as I can finagle. I just don't talk about it.”

Pretty much my sentiments, Stzzo. I still climb, leading VS/HVS – 5.6-5.9 – not as intense as I used to be, and I do boulder up in Dalkey Quarry (five-minute walk from the front door, so why not), when the weather is nice (not always in Ireland).

I do not think that I have posted a TR since joining the Taco Stand in July 2005. But I have participated in a number of climbing (and of course, non-climbing) threads, since I still climb (as previously mentioned, not at the level I used to) (started in 1969 – Mt Diablo then the Valley and the Sierra and some beyond).

Being a writer and climber. I always wanted to be a regular contributor to Summit, Mountain, Off Belay, Rock & Ice, and others but either a workload or procrastination (which I am very good at) never saw such articles materialize, and anyway, I was not at the cutting edge in climbing where an editor would say to themselves, “Hey, this guy has sent in a good Trip Report”, about a new climb, FFA or such.

As I have mentioned I have met Jeff, and on several occasions, for example, coming home for my mom’s funeral, when he offered to pick me up at SFO and give me a lift to Creektown.

Yes, he got a bit (understatement?) repetitive, and we don’t really share similar ideologies, as such. And I agree with several posters that it was an internet forum personality, a lot of times to pat his own back, spout anti-Islam stuff, and to ‘buff’ himself up. But I wonder if there may be a couple of “embellishments” on my CV. And I have bragged occasionally, mainly about my journalism and acting (or are those actually embellishments?).

LEB/Lois has given me some good advice via emails regarding health issues and career.

I have argued with Skippy (though I was never mean, I think), but got tired of it, and while he was OTT much of the time, he occasionally had some decent posts.

Wes. What did he do? I don't think he is/was that bad. I always liked his posts, for the most part, probably because I think we have similar ideologies.

As for FortMental, I really have not read many of his posts to really formulate an opinion.

Am I missing anybody?

I do not visit or contribute to the forum as much as I used to.

I say, live and let live. Most of the forum is decent. If there is something OTT, then as a "community" we should raise the issue/matter in a mature manner.

I have already given my two cents on this thread, so please allow me three cents.

(I would have written a shorter post, but I did not have time.)

EDIT

http://www.supertopo.com/climbers-forum/1747712/3-Goals-for-SuperTopo-Forum-in-2012-what-are-yours-Video

IMHO, a very good presentation. And it gives me a better insight into ChrisMac, Supertopo, etc.

Hey Kevin, CM's remarking about not looking at the camera, it is the case, generally, (being a professionally trained actor with a degree in communication arts, and I hope I am not being self-aggrandizing), for the most part in drama on film, one never looks at camera, whereas in newscasts/documentaries/etc, one does direct their eyes to the audience, so to speak. Anyway, I for one appreciate the posters like you, Donini, BVB, and others posters. How's the climbing? Stoner's Highway is still one of my favorite climbs that you and others put up.

Tradmanclimbs (AKA as Dean Wormer, ha,ha), double secret probation! I still laugh at that line, even after having seen it a number of times.

Dean Vernon Wormer: Greg, what is the worst fraternity on this campus?

Greg Marmalard: Well that would be hard to say, sir. They're each outstanding in their own way.

Dean Vernon Wormer: Cut the horsesh#t, son. I've got their disciplinary files right here. Who dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the varsity swim meet? Who delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner? Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear. Every spring, the toilets explode.

Greg Marmalard: You're talking about Delta, sir.

Dean Vernon Wormer: Of course I'm talking about Delta, you TWERP!

Greg Marmalard: But Delta's already on probation.

Dean Vernon Wormer: They are? Well, as of this moment, they're on DOUBLE SECRET PROBATION!

Good enough for me. I recall back when I first started climbing, reading in some climbing mag or guide or something (we all devoured every book and mag about climbing we could find) that Kauk had read that (Black Elk Speaks) at the belays on Iron Hawk. Went to the library and got a copy the next day. Great book.

"Hey, it's not my forum, but I enjoy hearing from the Guidos and Hartounis and Hennys and Pat Aments and Duecys and Long Agos and (egads) Ron Amicks and the BBA's of our little guppy pond, so I'll stick around. Plus I realy wanna meet some of these new mutant Woodson crucherz."

Amen to that. Occasionally I am in correspondence with Guido/Joe, appreciate The Warbler, one of the nicest climbers I have enjoyed the company of (and Kauk too), Werner's expertise on SARs... heck there are so many pluses and positives about the Taco Stand, nowadays I rarely let the negatives turn me off. I just turn them off.

BTW, I wrote some of the above without seeing about 1/3 or so comments later on. If I have been repetitive, i.e., the link to ChrisMac's video, my apologies.

PS (that's me, not NB, get it? Okay, maybe NB - Nota Bene - is more of an "Eastern Atlantic" thing). I am not trying to be clever, and if I was, I probably failed.

EDIT

“What about all the other stupid threads(sic)”, writes Dr F.

Yeah, the one I always found weird was something like (the ThreadHead© that is) toilet paper, folded or winkled” or something like that. I never gave that topic much thought before, and haven’t since.

Jaysus, the Hippo Fart video… I can’t stop laughing, it hurts actually.

Yeah, apparently hippos are more responsible for human deaths in Africa than crocs, lions, elephants, snakes… oh wait, the last bit I mean the reptiles, not the humans/dictators/wars, etc… (now, now, I am not going political on this thread).

Happy climbing folks.
