Yo tell Brad - Call the hospital and tell them you don't have insurance and can't afford to make the payments... My GF recently had a trip to the ER and was not insured. The hospital took care of the bill entirely. In an earlier trip she had a big bill and the hospital cut the bill down majorly and then put her on a reasonable payment plan...

I think he will be much better off if he deals with the hospital directly to start off...

If he can go 36 months without paying or getting sued by the hospital, he's off the hook. (per the above referenced act of congress)
