Henry " Hank " Thurman , heavyweight prize fighter originally from Modesto , passed away from natural causes last week in Santa Monica...Henry fought in Canada and all across the US...Henry had a chance to fight Muhammed Ali but lost a decision to Zoro Folley who was then knocked out by Ali in 7 rounds in Madison Square Garden...Hanks fight record can be found at boxrec.com ...RJ
Almost the entire fight. Jackie and Tony are still in his corner.
When he was later with Angelo Dundee i don't think Tony or Jackie
were involved but im not certain as he came back to OC CA and
fought twice locally with he and his brother as main events and
i think then Tony and Jackie were back in his corner.
specialistclimber...Found out Hank , my godfather , worked with Dundee and Johnny Malone..Hank also boxed Rex Layne who later got KO'd by Marciano...The Layne/Marciano fight is on youtube...Looks like back then everything was a brawling slugfest...RJ
Tommy only has 2 of his fights on tape and *this is not 1.
Terry Norris decision'd Joe Walker, Tommy stop'd Joe Walker.
Terry and Tommy both decision'd Gilbert Baptiste.
Terry and Tommy both lost decisions to Derick Kelley
*Santana broke Tommy's jaw on a break around the 5'th and i think Tommy was ahead at the time but lost via 10 round decision.
Terry lost to Santana via disqualification.
*This caused hire for both by Sugar Ray Leonard for Leonard vs Duran rematch.
What the hell? Did someone post this and I was asleep?
Ken Norton, who had three memorable fights with Muhammad Ali, breaking Aliís jaw in winning their first bout, then losing twice, and who went on to become the World Boxing Council heavyweight champion, died Wednesday in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson, Nev. He was 70.
Can't compare to real life in-person street fight, wehre you're one of the (at least 3) participants. The good and the bad...I'm thinking of starting to train for mma stuff. Seems like mma fighters are the highest "overall fitness" athletes. I mean what fitness/skills really do matter in real life? Being able to win a fight is pretty much it. What good is there if you're skilled in that and this and "strong" in this or that way (mostly in your own head) if someone can beat the living s@ out of you in a fight any time. Whatever gymnastics, weight lifting you can do, etc...it matters Nuthin' in a real life fight. Esp. considering f--rs who wanna fight always tend come in pairs, against one...
