I was privileged to meet Kip here in his native New Hampshire many years ago when he was Ski racing at Holderness Prep then Plymouth State. He was just getting into climbing at the time and I was impressed by his gung ho optimism. Two of my best friends to this day, Craig and Rich were his ski coaches at Holderness. All of us in New Hampshire are shocked and feeling the pain. Condolences to all his friends in the Tahoe area and to his family.
Peace, Ted Hammond

Very sad news. My thoughts go out to friends and family.

We were up there April 10th and saw many wet slides in the afternoon as temps increased.

Thanks for the fine tribute, Spike. All the time I was researching the avalanche, I had no idea Allison was such a dedicated climber and badass endurance athlete.

I am hoping/planning to drive up to Truckee from the SF East Bay Thursday morning. If anyone would like to hop in and share gas, please let me know.

Hello to all the New Donner Party, Lake of the Sky Locals, Mountain Tribe At-Large, Colorado Posse, Chico Posse, and the bazillion Fun-Hogs who were lucky enough to call Allison Kreutzen (a.k.a. A.K.) friend, family or just lucky enough to be in her Sweet Shinning World.
It was hers, you know. The world, the sun,the snow, the water, the love, laughs, smiles, cheers. I have to stop. Oh my god, I'm so broken!
Please, Please, stay alive. Join us together at the big family table and tell our kids lies about how great we were and how much fun we had and how much we loved and how important life and love and family is.
See you on the hill, and please stay alive.
Love Always,
Brook
p.s. I plan to honor September 9th as Allison Celebration Extravaganza forever and ever and ever, Amen.

I heard about this tragedy through a Truckee resident - and as always when news of loss hits the community, we grieve - understanding how fragile we are and how fleeting decisions change our courses dramatically. "In mindfulness is resurrection."-Thich Nhat Hanh. Blessings to all-Keli

I took hundreds of photos at the Memorial, mostly because Allison was a kindred spirit and I will miss running into her in the middle of the wilderness...and because the community is passionate about back country sports and I thought it would be important to document the friends that are left...it was an incredible and loving group of people! I don't have an exact plan for the photos, but thought someone might be interested. I can be contacted at tahoecedar@gmail.com
