That was a hoot for sure. It was a MSR stove (very light for backpacking), and somehow...... it got sit on a hot Coleman stove (Hmmmmm). That thing was wasted, it blew up at least 50 feet for sure.
I took it back to REI and they put it on display. The actual stove part was bent like crazy. Crazy times man, we had a BLAST...
Did you get to meet the couple from Europe that was there? It was a pretty little blonde and a coolass dark headed dude...
Also, we met 2 couples from Porterico, some dude whos name was Ian, and another guy and two chicks. Me and Bean met up with them at Curry and the chicks were stuffing food from the foodbar to take back to the guys! Bean and I hid them between us and pretended like they were preggo. I remember Bean hid and when we were outside, he came running up and yelled "HEY, your BUSTED".... Scared the crap out of us, then we all just busted up laughing.
Good times man. I really hope and pray he's get's through this, he is too much fun to hang out with, always up for some fun in the mountains.
GO BEAN!!!
EDIT:
Damn Ian, is that you??? If so, hope all's well, you still riding that bike around yos??

Had some good laughs about Bean while sitting by the fire in Josh with the old crew from Prescott.
Bean is one classic critter.
Let's help however we can.
Links on FB...
Even a simple bump helps.

Bump for hanging in there Bean! PS, if you show up, bring a climbing picture (or 2) and a happy moment of reminiscent with you if you are up to it. You're not the only one with cancer around here, hopefully you are all kicking it's ass simultaneously.
My e-mail sig line for the last 6-7 years has been: "life is but an eyeblink". Truly, for us all. Hoping that we all check out late, and check out quick though. Best to everyone!

Here's the word from Bean this evening;
"Good news! It's all working. The doc was way encouraged. He thinks we
need to kick this thing into the hole it crawled out of which means 2
more rounds of chemo... so i got a week to sack up for the 3rd round
then 2 weeks off, then 1 more. But he thinks we got it maybe. Docs...
no offense AO... no definitives. Just keep thinking germ cell. He
thinks the thing on my kidney is unrelated and he said if the chemo
wasn't working I'd be writhing in pain from the tumors. An MRI
tomorrow to see the spine . The shoulder is indicating a shrinkage in
lesion size, so more good energy this way tomorrow please. I know it
is there, but my anxiety is growing as we go deeper into this I have
to admit. Scared shitlesss, mostly because we are still in kind of
guesswork zone a bit. But overall the news is great, please pass on
the word.

I met Bean in the Winds nearly a decade ago, but long before that I spent some time on and off climbing with the Jackson crew; one of them in particular was a great story-teller. Many of those stories featured "MaBuddyBean." So it was a pleasure to meet the Big Man behind the stories.
Get well Bean Bump!
