Okay, searched but couldn't find the other thread...

Bean's a great guy. Maybe you've met him, climbed with him, or heard about his legendary whip in Patagonia.

Well, he's been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and could really use our help.

Visit this site to donate, and/or just to see some gorgeous photos.

Bump for Bean Fever.

The first time I went to Granite Mountain he was stressing his way up the Candyland chimney and then saved Amos and me when we tried to find our way back down around the walk off to our packs. He smartly had a headlamp. We had nothing but dehydration and a piece of humble pie after floundering our way up Karl's Corner.

Don't know Bean, but I hope his survival legend continues to grow.
Take 5, check out the blog. Give a donation--I did.
ST seems like the place to help fellow climbers, even if they don't hang here.

This guy is the greatest.

I posted up a comment on his site, I'd like to share it here. Please help if you can....

POST on BB's site:
"Hey bud. This is some crazy stuff. I too, am at a loss of words. I'm just gonna post up some memorable thoughts of our time together:

I remember the wind river range. You told me to "Get up and walk like a man" when I was butt scooting across some easy terrain. You jumped off a hill and glissaded down, and I was crazy enough to follow.. I'll never forget the look on your face when you thought I couldn't stop... "Dig in your heals, Dig in your heals"

Then there was Yos. the Central Pillar of Frenzy. I chalked up 5 times, and you told me to get my "Fat Ass" off your rope and climb. We did the freeblast and got into some sketch with a German group... You bolted the last 3 pitches and busted my ass.

Finally we did leaning tower, we listened to your MP3 player, smoked a half and half, ate cold chili and finished up that day.

Last but not least, you and Colorado Bob blew up my stove at C4... that was a trip brother.

Just know I love you and your the best partner I've ever climbed with. Your a fighter, and I pray that your fight will be won.

Heres to you Bean Bowers, hard man, wonderful human, and true friend who doesn't hold back. You forced me to be my best, and for that, I'm truly thankful. Your a blessing to the world bud. Hang tough, call if you need anything, and I'll put some dollars in the kitty for ya.

Doug. "

Wow. Read Bean's blog. All my best. I am a stage 4 cancer patient too, and have a thread on ST about it. Prhaps it would be helpful to him if he checked it out.http://www.supertopo.com/climbers-forum/1239624/Malignent-Melanoma-Survivors-who-climb
If he would like to talk privately, e-mail me for sure. You can reach me through my handle "Disaster Master" here on ST.

Tough fight. It seems like Bean's on it as much as possible. Climb on, my man.

Bean is a great guy, there is a benifit for him in Boulder on the 28th- I'll be there. The Boulder City Fathers are going to loosen up the visa process so that more Californians can attend- see you there.

Never met Bean. He seems like a wonderful guy, and certainly accomplished.

I went to his website to donate and checked out the gallery.

I was really bummed to note how many of his photos included a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

Quit the cancer sticks folks. Seriously.

On a trip up the Matanuska in the Chugach AK in the late 90's Bean stayed in camp one day and said he would cook dinner while me a couple friends poked around on the glacier.

We returned to find Bean hunched over the stove completely naked (it was a warm spring day) except of his plastic boots. He looked up nonchalantly handed me a bowl of beans and lentils and said, "The water I got for dinner was a little silty"

I put a spoonful of the glop in my mouth and immediately bit down on two rocks the size of a dime and nickel. I spit the rocks into my hand and stared at Bean incredulously.

"What the problem dude? I warned you," was Bean's deadpan reply.

Classic Bean!!
