What about the other well placed source for "Ashley mannings" hgh?
But manning wasn't one of the 7 broncos busted for PEDs since 2012 right?

The spread:

New England favored by 3 over Denver, Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Denver, Colorado.

Carolina favored by 3 over the Cards, in Charlotte.

The second game's easy: Take Carolina, and give the points.

The first game: I want to take The Home Team AND the points, but that's what The Mafia wants me to do, so I'm going the other way.
Take the visiting Patriots, and give the points.

As much as I'm a big Broncos fan, they will have their hands full this afternoon, stopping Brady and Gronkowski. If it does happen to rain as is forecast (showers), that will be advantageous for Denver's running game.

If it does happen to rain as is forecast, that will be advantageous for Denver's running game.

“Bill read off a stat today,” safety Devin McCourty recalled. “I think it was 10 games where they rushed over 100 yards — they won nine of them. That’s a great stat for an offense and I think it’s big for us to go out there and play well and stop the run because when they run the ball well they usually win. It’s kind of a direct correlation for us that we’ve got to make sure we go out there, play well in the run game. I think that will set up the rest of our defense.

“If they’re able to run the ball and get five or six yards on a first down, move the chains on a second down, it will be a long day for us because they have a quarterback who can drive the field and make plays, make the right decisions to score points on us. I think we’ve got to try and get them behind and try to play good defense on first down and not let them just pound us and be able to pound the ball.”

edit: Yes, indeed, Ed, it's still just a silly game, like climbing.
Neat reminiscence--thanks!
It will be fun watching, no matter what happens,

it seems rather interesting that there really isn't any good analysis of who might win or loose, or why...

in the AFC both teams are significantly banged up. significant because the play of various talented individuals might tip the scale to the advantage, or disadvantage of their team.

weather is another factor all together, and while it is common to assign advantage to the running game, the Patriots' offense doesn't seem to be too much affected by the weather. I don't know enough about the Broncos', but Manning has never been a good foul weather footballer.

it might not even be a great game if the weaknesses of one team are exposed early. but we'll soon see. most coaches will admit that it's up to the players... and while coaches are responsible for preparing the teams for the games, the players have to execute and adapt...

so in a couple of hours we'll see.

it is odd that tribal instincts seem so strong, I've never fully understood how this is, but have sensed it. In 2003 I bought tickets to the three games played in Oakland for the AL playoffs (note the change of sports). My daughter thought I was crazy since she didn't see it lasting for 5 games, the A's were streaking hot that year and the Red Sox were the Red Sox... the first two games proved her point, both losses for the BoSox. I went climbing that weekend, crazy act number two which I explained as not caring what happened as only one outcome would be satisfactory, that the Sox win both games in Boston forcing the last game at the Coliseum in Oakland for our viewing enjoyment.

The Sox delivered, I got to climb, and we were going to see baseball to decide who was going to go on.

Pedro was facing Barry Zito... The A's got on the board in the 4th, Manny hit a 3 run home run in the sixth, with 'Tek also helping out with a home run... the A's chipped away and had the bases loaded in the 9th. Williamson walked Hatteberg and Guillen and was pulled and replaced by Lowe, who was not a happy camper that season (and left the next). A sacrifice bunt advanced the base runners to second and third with one out.

The Colliseum was full 49,397 attended, and the A's fans sensed victory. Lowe struck out Melhuse (who batted for Dye, never understood that move) walked Singleton to load the bases. The first pitch was a called strike, I couldn't see home plate too well, looking down from the third base side...

...the Oakland fans were going crazy throwing Babe Ruth candybars into the Boston dugout...

second pitch was a ball, the third pitch was close enough to be fouled off, 1 ball, 2 strikes...

and then the most amazing thing I've ever experienced in watching sports happened.

The entire stadium went quiet for the 4th pitch... and it was totally quiet, 49,000 odd people, you could feel the straining attention on the next pitch, but not a sound.

Lowe delivered the pitch, the ball popped in 'Tek's glove, the umpire called "strike", Lowe pumped his arm and we covered up our Red Sox clothing and made for BART... I never saw the alleged rude gesticulation that Lowe was accused of making towards the Oakland dugout... but everything was chaos at that point... and maybe the fist pump had more on the upswing than was allowed in polite company.

Even though Fevered Pitch told me not to say this, it is just a game. In Oakland, the team seems to morph by the month during the season, so few players are there a long time (though there are a few).

So it is tribalism without tribe members... same in football.

I root for the Patriots because they were the first pro football team I ever saw play, in their first year in the AFC. And 20 years of truly terrible teams have given way to a nearly 20 year dynasty that will end with the retirement of either Brady or Belichick, and that will be within the next 5 years for sure. I even remember some of the old team...

but it is still just a game.

So have fun, and hope for some really good football. The Patriots of late have giving good games... let's see if the Broncos can deliver. If they do, we'll have a game worth watching.

This is actually football at it's finest: the best playing the best. I'm also pulling for the Cardinals, and keeping this as a Western US championship series.

How the hell did the Broncos get away with double covering Edelman AND Gronk?
Shouldn't that leave at least one guy wide open?

I'm struggling getting into this 2nd game. Neither team is "grabbing" me. I went into it rooting for Arizona. Hopefully they can do something exciting.

I've never been a strong Broncos fan but I detest NE so I'm pleased with the result.
And it turns out I now have some Colorado friends coming to our local Super Bowl!
