What makes this board any different from a real campfire?
At a real campfire - you have a bunch of hyped up testosterone fiends swilling booze and blowing weed while telling tales of derring do.
Young women - they usually get sick of hearing our crap and float to the perimeter - close enough to keep hearing the stories, but far enough away to avoid the dreaded "innuendo".
Sounds like this place to me.
It's all nature's way.
Like why we get to pee standing up and they don't.

My vote goes to Steve Grossman.
That dweeb? He's so weak he can't even handle the weight of a power drill and has to do his bolting while hanging from hooks!!!
No way he'd have what it takes to moderate an internet forum.
Nope. The best thing is to make Dingus the moderator, then, as soon as we disagree with his decision (probably the first time he makes a decision), we hang him. Then we'll have exactly the right moderator. i.e. no moderator.

Where do I look to find the slander that inspired this.
I think it's good for us to work and post together as a community to handle disputes and create our own diverse culture. If somebody is out of line and a number of people call them on it and if it happens repeatedly with no response.....Well, we've got folks banned in the past for that and it's good that banning is hard to do
Let's continue to have and use our own power so that such can be the paradym for self-organizing communities. If we wind up truly needing a moderator, there will be more consensus on it in the future

GONG !!!! Sorry Rox, but this is not the same. In the first instance Locker used a pic of you. I agree that this was offensive and should have been removed. His defense that he was attacking you because you attacked Russ does have some merit in climber lore. You defended yourself by saying that it was a joke. GONG !!! If it was a joke, then you would have said so somewhere on that thread as soon as you realized people didn't understand that it was a joke, thus saving them from a bunch of anger. Since you didn't, then it wasn't meant as a joke, it was instead meant as an attack because it is common knowledge that you don't really like Russ. If you truly did mean it as a joke, but didn't tell anyone once they got upset, or waited to let them go a bit crazy, then this would mean that you don't really care for your brother climbers on this forum and were just being mean. In either case.. GONG So Locker gets no punishment, just that he remove the offensive pictures. As he has done so, case closed.
In the second instance Locker did not use a pic of you and was only doing what is accepted Tacostand practice, ie making fun of another without being overly graphic and manipulating a photo of someone who doesn't want their photo's manipulated. So sorry, but this does not rise to the level of the first offense. So I rule no Loco nonoffensive / GONG!!!111
That said, brother Rox, I still enjoy your presence here, but like me, sometimes you get a bit whack. I think right now you are bent out of shape and need to take a chill pill. Go skiing or something. As has been said, no employer is going to hold it against you for a picture that you did not make. I think your fear is unwarranted and I believe that Locker would have removed the picture if you had not insulted him so many times and if you had asked in a decent manner. ( besides, if employers up in Idaho are that whacked to hold such a picture against you when you didn't create the picture, then why do you keep saying Idaho is so much better then California, eh? )
Okay, as the new self appointed temporary part time lazy and mostly blind sort of nice but don't piss me off cause I'm half whacked supreme court referee for all things taco, I declare this a mistrial and wish that we would all treat each other just a bit better. Rox, I love how you go after things like skiing. So how about another ski trip report. Some of your past pics have been awesome. Please let go of this notion that Locker is a jerk. He is only a part time jerk as lots of other here are, myself included. Most of the time he is a regular guy who likes to try and have fun. So please treat him like he is regular guy and perhaps things will go better for you.

I just got another email from a woman who told me another story about what happened to her after allowing her picture to be posted and her name to be known.
She lists other episodes of women being harassed and stalked by posters on this forum.
And "One who is Leading the Battle Here, But Need Not be Named by ME"? You are named as a person who is not nice. Really, really not nice. Honest. And apparently you are not the only one.
I can't say more, she fears to post or some here any longer. One of several now.
This place needs a moderator. And I am surprised Ekat says it doesn't.
Even a few instances like what I am hearing screams for a moderator. Their are decent, well loved people who won't post here any more. What more can I say?

Is this guy really out of his gourd? Sounds like it. I googled his name and location, and not a single supertopo post came up. Only when I looked for stuff in specific posts (that I already knew was on supertopo) did I get any hits.
If you don't want your identity revealed, then don't reveal it!

Jox-- don't take it personally, but I doubt they're emailing you just because they like you.
And, I have, from time to time, received an email from one of our female posters and/or lurkers because they appreciated what I said. It's how things work around here. Some of the guys have emailed me as well.
