I like it when he smiles a bit in this one. Just one dude+his guitar and he blows up the stage.

The world is full of answers
Some are right, some are wrong
The one that I believe in is a wish in a song

My appreciation runs deep for Neil and his tunes.

zb, Is that Rick Danko in the picture at the beginning? Looks to be.
I can't read the type under the pictures.

Danny Whitten, original member of Crazy Horse, was a hommie. He pinned a few notable songs including "I Don't Want To Talk About It"; which was a big hit for Rita Coolidge and others. He co-wrote "Come On Baby Let's Go) Downtown" (about the death of Bruce Berry, a roadie) with Neil. "Tonight's The Night" is also about Bruce Berry.

He sings "Cinnamon Girl" on Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and plays much of the guitar in "Down By The River" and "Cowgirl In The Sand".
Neil wrote the song "The Needle and The Damage Done" about Whitten's on-going addiction while recording with him. When the wheels finally fell off Young fired him. He died the next day after leaving Young's ranch. Neil is quoted as saying "Danny tried to do his best; but couldn't".

some classic Young tunes I never tire of:

↓↓↓ You are right, he was given $50, a plane ticket to back to LA and a ride off the ranch where they were recording. I got ahead of myself.↓↓↓

Best part is when Neil tells a joke:

What does it mean when the drummer is drooling out of both sides of his mouth?

 The stage is level.

The only time I got to see him was when the Buffalo Springfield played a local high school dance in 1968.

Can't say: Seeing Buffalo Springfield at a high school dance ranks pretty high up as far as I am concerned.

Had similar experience with Wet Willie.

I always liked the Shocking Pinks version of Wonderin"

Well I wasn't in high school anymore, but I did see the Buffalo Springfield at the Peterson Gym at San Diego State May 3, 1967. Bad acoustics and power problems made it a not so great show.

I've got this show:

Buffalo Springfield, 1968-01-20, Whittier High School Auditorium
Whittier, CA

--- Rock & Roll Woman (not recorded)
01. On The Way Home
02. Good Time Boy
03. Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing
04. Mr. Soul
05. A Child's Claim To Fame
06. For What It's Worth
07. Bluebird

This is on YouTube but does not appear to be the Whittier tape.

Thanks ec...Young reminds me of Hoyt Wilhelm , the knuckleball relief pitcher who thew junk and played into his mid-forties..Neil's music is sometimes junk but always interesting... A close friend was a ranch hand for Neil at broken arrow ranch..He was friends with the OLD MAN and attended the old man's son's wedding..My friend would be doing ranch chores and occasionally got to listen to crazy horse rehearsing while clearing brush..

Anybody here like Greendale?

I was wondering when some folk/bluegrass band would give up on the old prohibition moonshine stuff and write something about the modern weed market. Then I found that Neil already did it on Greendale.

liked his radio tunes growin up (40) now but after moving had all the discs packed and was forced to listen to radio recordings my wife had made years ago that were unmarked. turned out to be Neil and Thank God for that turns out I like most of his songs better than the stuff I had heard on the radio!!
