I love Messi but not the rest of those whiners and divers. I think Belgium will take 'em.

I love Colombia but I think Brasil will benefit from an alignment of the planets.

The same with the Ticos plus I couldn't face the wifey's rels if they found out I was rooting
against the Orangeboomers.

France and Deutschland are really tough. The wifey grew up in France and I don't wanna
sleep in the garage so I'll be rooting for them. But just between you and me my money is
going towards a new Porsche. Besides, Benzema and Giroud just don't seem mobile enough
let alone on the same page.

Why does Thursday have to come before Friday?

Those poor Brasilians... just waiting and waiting...

The Germans have ended up having the flu.

Shakira will turn up when the Columbians are playing.

Would love to see a Brazil v Argentina final.

Pulling for France on Friday but would be OK with Germany as well. The Germans are far more fun to watch this WC than they have been in the past.

How many more cups til we see an African team through to the finals? It's got to be soon.

they are making jokes here in Costa Rica based on local geography. The little town of Grecia (Greece is Spanish) is nextdoor to the town where I live, Naranjo (Orange in Spanish). So, "after Grecia comes Naranjo", or "to get to Naranjo you have to go through Grecia".

Aside from the massive prestige boost that would be gained by a Costa Rica win, we're talking some serious dollars as well. That would also be a massive boost for Tico futbol, although I'm sure the team is motivated a lot more by pride than by prize.

France is creating chances by breaking the German off side line. Hopefully France will equalize early in the 2nd half and all hell will break loose.

Yes, TT, France have created good opportunities but poor first touches and poor services
are their undoing, not to mention some pointless fouls such as lead to the goal.

Nice to see a game without much theatrics and the refs have been excellent.

Deutschland! Neuer is the best in the world. That is the squad the Germans need to play the rest of the tourney.

Go Columbia!

Hard to argue with that result. Au revoir Les Bleus, go home and work on your crosses and decision making.

Now for the real money game!

A rather dull 2nd half. Germany did what they had to do.

Go Colombia!!

Now that the US participation in this world cup has ended, any thoughts whether Klinsmann's decision to exclude Landon Donovan was correct or not?

Dempsey isn't a striker and neither is Wondopuntsky.

I don't know about y'all, but booth national anthems in the Brazil vs Columbia game was somewhat moving to see 50% of the stadium joining in the song.

This will be a good game.

Either way the decision was made, the game was lost and now it's over. We can armchair all day long.. nothing changes .

IMO though - Donavan could have brought a different dynamic, but how can you and I know what all went into Klinsmann's decision.
