Bouldering Mythology I *

Stone me, to my soul...
Nay, Dingus, I be yet incarcerated. Things, like my low BP, get in the way of my release. It is on the rise and I feel fine, walked about this morning before dawn. It could happen tomorrow if the BP continues its rising trend. Stability will come eventually. Tuning the body with drugs, I call it.

Bematists* no longer roam the earth.
Bematists were people trained in ancient Greece to measure their steps to calculate distances. The bematists would often publish their findings in monographs called Stathmoi, which published distances as well as reports of natural findings and empirical customs.
* Do not confuse with toedometers or pedophiles...er, pedometrists.

ps:

"Rare & precious" describes your sweet self, neebee, but thanks for the compliment.
As for the boulderdash, they are all running in a boulder marathon. The typical entrant's time is incalculable by our standards, however.
Here is the rest of the field, the early finishers.
This creek is the S. Fork of the Stanislaus, BTW.
Any such place which requires a lot of boulder-hopping would've been a nightmare for the average bematist, it should be noted. Various of the 'stathmoi' told of tribulations such as this. Tall grass was usually avoided as being monumentally wasteful of time and energy, for example.

Say what? One can NEVER have 'too much harp.'

For me, the standard for Big Boss Man is the version on the GD's double LP, first issue.
Otherwise, there's these guys for sheer energy. 1966, man!

I was sorta bamboozled this morning, finding that "Roadrunner" by Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers is NOT the "I'm a Roadrunner" by the Pretty Things.

Both are covers, one of Bo Diddley & the other of Velvet Under Ground Hog.

Actually, I think Roadrunner was written by Jonathan Richman. The album it was on was produced by John Cale but that is the main Velvet Underground connection there.
