I remember the Campfire Circle coffees from the '70's thru the '80's and how it was the tools way to get to know everyone's face, (lest they need to boot them out...)

I remember those coffee mornings!
They were way cool.
I will never forget the look on my partner face when Largo walked up and introduced himself. Don's hand was swallowed up by John's and I don't think Don washed his hand for several days thinking it would bring him better climbing.Ah....those were the days.

Tools just don't realize we know better. Can't screw me over AND be my friend in the same day.

If they want to get on our good side:

1. Quit climbing intersection rock by headlamp, late at night, in a party of 3, badly, and deny the climbers are actually rangers (no real climber is that retardedly slow), and don't send fatsos around revving their engines, driving like crazy, acting all agro at every flashlight (er, um, or spotlight) that gets shined at them. Retarded.

2. Stop sneaking up out of the rocks and bushes into peoples campsites without probable cause to search whatsoever. None of us were even using, carrying, or had in years.

3. Don't threaten us by driving around with fire engines with water cannons on new years eve. We saw how you pigs used those in the 60's.

4. Stop jacking us for $10/night, hassling/ticketing us after only 14 days, even when the place is half empty, and not even provide drinking water. Even Gitmo detainees get drinking water.

5. Don't hike ALL the way to obscure crags on a hunch that there is illegal guiding going on. There wasn't, you suck, and you had zero f*#king reason to even suspect there was illegal guiding going on!

6. Don't brag that you want to (illegally!) pull over everyone you see obeying the speed limit on New Year's because you are sure the only explanation for their law abiding behavior is fear of DUI arrest. It's illegal oinker, look it up!

Coffee, while well intentioned I'm sure, is just pissing in the desert.

I'd settle for being able to find a fricking campsite compared to Moof's points.

oh no - now I'm torn! I was going to go. And I don't really have much to worry about with ranger's knowing my face. I guess I could take one for the team...show up and be the decoy. Lock my keys in the trunk of the car again and keep the rangers occupied....

OR - be subversive! Zabar's French Roast in Happie's campsite same bat time, same bat channel!!!

No, I won't do that. But on any other day, if anyone wants coffee, come and git it(except those f'in BET jerks from rc.com).

I just saw the climber coffee is at 8am. Too early.

"Don't threaten us by driving around with fire engines with water cannons on new years eve. We saw how you pigs used those in the 60's."

Remember that time that well known climber guy lit the blob on fire on new years eve by pouring white gas down the face? hmm... probably no correlation.

Steve, it wasn't the blob. It was a boulder in the camground, it caused zero harm, the LEO's overcharged him and lost in court and it is all history now.

I was there, saw it, posted about it, got eaten alive by a bunch of flamers who also said they saw it (differently.) I guess that is how those things are.

Last week I was in Ryan. The parking spot was designed to pull into at an angle. I camp in my truck, so I prefer to back in. So when I pull out, technically by 45 degrees, I am going the wrong way on a one way while I negotiate my 3 point turn. The ranger pulled me over as I left the CG for wrong way on a one way!!!!

No ticket. Just his idea of probable cause.

Piece of crap.

"Happie you don’t need to worry, you live amounst pavement each day in NY, the more pavement in the desert the “Happier” you will most likely be. So do not be torn, the pavers are moving fast in the desert. Soon you will be able to rent your RV and microwave your dinners right next to Crimpie. So pay your fees and your homage to what once was in Josh (and have just one drink, those meetings must get tiresome)."

Gee- thanks for the insult, C2!

Santa - Is a 3 point turn in a campground somehow equivavalent to child abuse??? WTF??

I also agree with many of your points.

I do not intent to be bold. Rather, if you read my earlier account, can you support the Ranger's action?

I have had several interactions with this same person. One was in Indian Cove. We were camping "light" out of our Porsche BoxterS, which has a mid engine and therefore trunks fore and aft. Ranger Man (yes, the same one who pulled me over for wrong way in Ryan) sees both ends open, comes over and starts looking through our vehicle. I get up and approach him, and he says "we have to impound your vehicle to figure out where the engine is.."

If he was trying to be funny, he came up short.

While he continues to snoop. I walked up and closed the front and rear trunks and it was over.

Most of the rangers in Joshua Tree are really cool and friendly;......especially the older ones who know the locals and respect the fact that we love the Park more than anyone probably should.....They love the Park too, and find it quite interesting that some of us can't get enough of the place.....I don't know some of the young guns;.....just as well,......they have some exploring themselves to do;......I say, camp outside the Park and climb in far flung corners of the Park;.....then you can say as I do......Rangers?...what Rangers?......hating cops is so universal and yesterday's news;...and everyone has stories of getting "tooled"..........I'd rather be invisible than give them the opportunity to " be cool "....with any situation with me . .....I hardly ever see rangers.....heck;..I hardly ever see anyone where we go......Joshua Tree is a lonely place......
