Just guessing, but sounds like she had a mind of her own and not well liked by some. Small towns can, at times, be small. Peace, lynne (I live in one :D)

calm down people....
all of us who were evacvuated in the recent fire were told that, if we stayed, we were subject to arrest if we left our proprties, which she did.
it was a simple rule, intended to keep people clear of the fire crews, so they could save the rest of our houses.

Lottery opens for High Sierra Camps
September 3, 2009
Technology will afford prospective guests of Yosemite's High Sierra Camps blah blah blah Beginning Sept. 1, applications were made available online for submission and will be accepted through Nov. 1, 2009.
"We're pleased to make this announcement, blah blah blah "For decades, the only way to enter the High Sierra Camp lottery was to submit a hard-copy application to our Fresno reservations office and wait for three months. Those days are over."
Applicants submitting by the Nov. 1 deadline will receive notification 30 to 60 days faster than in previous years. "
I won't be trading in my current rat race for that one!

"We were told that if we freely traveled or our own reasons we would be arrested. It is a simple rule intended to keep potential terrorists clear of the police so they could save the rest of us from terrorists."
The dumbing down of Americans lacks only a few hold-outs who can think enough to recognize the unmitigated stupidity, arrogance and maliciousness of American police and their mindless supporters.
Not many thinking people left among the climbers, but a few.

His "enlightening the sheeple" rants are almost as nutty and entertaining as the diatribes by the California wolf haters, and about as verbose.

I can’t...I can’t..... arghhh, I cannot resist.
First off, it does seem a bit extreme, but I only have the snippet from the link to go on. Maybe she threatened the rangers.
Secondly, Doug does seem a bit... out there (hope you have a good belayer).
And thirdly, we all know that Rokjox hates California, and by extension, Californians.
No surprises there.
So what’s the big deal?

Go easy on the boy from Hi-Dee-Ho.
It's not easy staying sane when you live in a bunker under your mother's house waiting for the end of the world to come.

This is possibly off topic, but last night, while in Yosemite, I ran into a delightful couple at the mariposa entrence who live in Mariposa.. we were discussing the fire and how it was started by the NPS....
The man told me that there was a local (Mariposa) official who had signed off on starting the fire.....
He was upset at this...
He's breathing has been impacted by the smoke in his home valley.

It's people that use the word "Cali" that create "ghetto" overtones. I just hate that word.
