Sparky, you ask who Mark is but we know that the real Sparky is Mark Hughes, ex-Man U (and Chelsea etc) and now managing Blackburn.

Alex Ferguson said that of all the players he off loaded, Sparky was the one he wished he had kept.

A couple of reasons why Soccer will never catch on in the USA.:

1: Men wear short pants to play it--outdoors. Sure, other "sports" do too, but name them, and discuss their popularity.

2. You KICK a ball. Nearly every other ball sport's rules and conduct suggest that this act is reserved for ill-tempered mutha-f*%#ers (ie..poor sports). American football place kickers are an exception, but they are hardly role models for the game.

There are a few more, but I can't remember them--I plagerized the first two from somewhere my memory forgets.

Have fun, soccer-out, and play nice.

Why is soccer the greatest sport?

That's an easy one: Because it's sooooo sloooooowwwww that you can go out and get a pizza and come back and you won't have missed anything.

No kidding, if you grew up playing and watching hockey, then watching soccer is almost like torture. The players are superbly conditioned athletes, and what they do is not easy, and it is essentially the same game as hockey, but it is played as if everyone on the field was on major doses of valium.

Any dufus can paint his chest and act like a fool, but the real measure of a proper sport is, is it worth rioting over?

Go Gunners! City and Chelsea are pushing them to the end, thank you very much.

Will Balotelli really sign?

Good to see another Gooner here. Next two weeks will be interesting.
Liverpool, United, Liverpool, Bayern. Yikes.

Balotelli to the Gunners? I hadn't heard that rumor. He might be more trouble than it is worth.I had thought that his teammate at Milan, Stephan El Shaaraway would be a more likely target.

You'll Never Walk Alone In Fourth Place.
You do walk alone in first. BwaHaHaHaHa!

The Reds' front office sucks. And their captain is the typical English underachiever - he's a right nice bridesmaid 'e is.

stevep, I agree Super Mario seems an odd fit for Arsenal but I don't
second-guess Saint Arsene, if he is actually for it which, of course,
is highly debatable at this point.

It's not soccer and football.
It's football and American football. (Which is a sissy variation of rugby).
