Now THAT is a pithy trip report for a cross-country adventure.

Either that or it's a proof of life photo as part of a K&R negotiation?

Darn picture does not show it, but this is a immature Bald Eagle on the south side of town. I've been seeing two adults for the last few month - then this young one - hope they start breeding here.
And yes rare sighting E-Kat.

Actually not entirely rare. Been watching this guy for over a year now. Circled me while fly fishing on the river the last three days. Watched him catch a thermal for like 20 minutes the other day. He go got so high I just couldn't see it anymore. Bunch of Avocets flying WAY above him today. Good stuff!! A breeding pair would be WAY cool.

I've also seen a pair out at Hot Creek hatchery this winter. It appeared as if a sub-adult was hanging about as well.

2 summers ago there was a pair nesting above Saddlebag Creek below Sawmill Campground. There are usually a pair at June Lake. I've seen them on Hot Creek in the winter for many years now.

Yes,the one(s) at Hot Creek have been there for multiple seasons. The one that appears to be a big male we've even affectionately named "Melvin". The one down here on the LO we've named "Owen". When deciding where to to fish we've been saying "well, should we hang with Melvin or Owen today?"

Yes...We are dorks. ;-)

Nice Mr. E

The double rainbow is more common in this valley than any other place I've ever visited. The first time I saw one here I was stoked. Now, unless it's a triple or quadruple, meah. :)

Well at least you are doing the right thing at Schat's, cause the food isn't all that good.
Mike next time you're going to be in town let me know, we'll eat our way through town.

You're not, schats is fine.

There is also Great Basin bakery for baked goods and sandwiches and if you really like a ton of meat: mahogany smoked meats. The only other places I sometimes eat for dinner are the Thai restaurant in the airport, holy smoke BBQ, and the pizza place next to smart & final.
