OK folks... as promised I've finally gotten around to working on:
http://www.ouchlives.com
There's only about 14,000 files to work through...
ADVICE REQUEST:
I'm using a template from another (Fry) site thus for now you'll see things out of place.
While starting to piece this together some questions came up in my mind and rather than being the driving force behind the decisions I feel it's best to just toss out my ideas and ask for feedback or further advice.
The idea behind the site is to present Ouch!'s work. But how best to do that I have to ask.
The sort of problem with his work on the forum is that it gets lost. This site will be designed to keep that from happening. THE PROBLEM is it means we'll be taking much of his work and removing it from the original context it was presented (a thread in this forum and the following discussion). So how do we preserve that?
Digging through the files I have I have to wonder if all his work is in said files. It might be that we need to grab files off of this forum and upload them. But how? (there's functionality built into Typo3 that'll allow that but who will be allowed to upload?).
HELP REQUEST:
I'm not a graphics/designer. I'm requesting help building a few image files like a header/footer, maybe some buttons, etc. Is there web designer out there that does photoshop magic that's willing to help?
If you'd also like to come up with color palate (hex values) that'd be great too.
-----
This is just the start. So please... let's hear it. What would you like to see for this site?
Edit: hey! look at the cool little horizontal rle I made using a few dashes.
Couple thoughts/ideas. I've installed a DAM (Digital Asset Manager) with a DAM photo gallery. I've also installed a news extension. I'm considering a way of categorizing his work (multiple categories of course).
I have no idea how many final images he produced. I'd say a minimum 1000. With the DAM system it should be fairly easy to present work based on categories. In the end there could be literally hundreds of categories. Problem is how to get the images categorized.

Yo doug ( how's the knew dawg doing?) If their can be some decenctcy about the Ouch threads I'm all for remembering a lost brother.
But it's a fine line and even Ouch crossed it a few times....How many times can we see Werner in his (worn out) purple coat and bear #46? Mr. Ouch to all of you indigent web dwellers was a True outdoors-men of which our Gortex era, computer hiding behind generation can only dream about....Let's Knott degrade a true pioneer , whether it be Harding or Herbert with anything less then our outmost respect for there spirits and achievements.

Hell I don't know.....How's the pup doing and Let's Knott degenerate Mr. Ouch'es legacy....The real one his daughter spoke of and Supertopo help make his last year's a little more palatable.
Doug are you keeping your drum chop's up for the inevitable reunion Tour of "Burning Barn"?....We might have a Rolling stone reporter out there for this Tour..........I'm talking to Cameron's grandson and he want's to do a "rockumentary" of "Burning Barn", do you still have the Amp that goes to .11?

Nice job Nature. Looks great to me. And a fine tribute to Ouch and anyone lucky enough to get sucked into one of his creations.

Thanks, Doug - that's fantastic. I wish I had the skills to help.
The only suggestions I have are to include the date on which the image was first posted immediately beneath, and perhaps also a link to the thread in which it appeared. The latter provides some way for people to get some context, although as you say links and threads may not always be there, and the only way to be sure would be to copy all those threads onto the ouchlives server.

I talked to Allie at length about her father and my father and death and how cool and strange Supertopo is. She loves you guys. I'm sure she will see this and chime in.
Nature, you are very cool to do this(I haven't checked it out yet, but I trust you). I hope to meet you someday.
Locker, you would approve. Allie is very attractive.(She made my wife jealous.). :^)-/<
Carry on

hey there nature, say, i'm not sure if i understand part of this, so if i messed up here, please forgive, but:
did you need the original post, so folks would know why the picture was created, as to "being a punchline" of sorts... ?
if so, if you can't find a way to get or do all this, can you just "copy and paste" a few lead up lines from someone's post, as in "intro" to each picture-work....?
well, as i said, i may not understand what you need.. but i was trying...
green line note:
say, now i want to practice my "neat green line" here, now... ;)
(i DID do it once but deleted it)... thought i had made it with dots, too........ (but was wrong)...
though, my dashes, didn't seem to work, then, either... oh my--the lost green line.... :O
