Wooohooo! This is like déjà vu...only better! Only better!

Birthdays are funny things...we all have 'em, and if we're not trying to blatantly ignore them, we're doing our darnest to repeal them. ;-)

This year, though, I'm giving in gracefully...and gratefully. I've been counting my blessings this week--something I constantly forget to do--and have come to the conclusion that LIFE IS GOOD...VERY, VERY GOOD.

For one thing, I can still fit in my Catwoman get-up...and now I don't care if no one else dressed up!

For another, I live with two zen masters, who cut me no slack where lessons of unconditional love accompanied by furballs are concerned...

Zen

Buddha2

And finally...when the canoe's gone under and it looks like I'm about to follow...all I have to do is remember my awesome friends--especially those on the Taco--and things brighten up (and lighten up) immediately.

Thanks youz awesome guyz and galz...this has been the best birthday ever!

Zen is beyond meditation, Scuff. He's almost a Zen Master...except, as you know, he can't turn left. ;-)

So while I was writing my earlier post about gratitude...and thinking about this last 1.5 years of rough waters here at The Orifice...and feeling gratitude even for that...my boss was plotting.

He called me in to his office.

He shut the door.

He handed me a birthday card.

He handed me an itinerary.

He and his wonderful wife gave me an all-expense paid trip to The Galapagos Islands!!!

I am not joking.

I'm still in shock...20 years of wanting to see torts up close and personal...maybe longer...and now I'm looking at trip schedules.

Maybe there really is something to this gratitude thingy...;-)

Great B-day news, L, all expense trip to Galopogas! Nice score!

Maybe you can come home with some ideas for tort-reform? At least have a heart-to-heart with some some of the wise old torts regarding reform.

Seriously, it's wonderful to read that a year-and-a-half of difficult times is now behind you.

May the coming year bring all the adventure, satisfaction and love you desire and deserve.

It wasn't a dream!

Hooty-hoot! I'm going to the Galapagos!

OK, OK, OK...before I get carried away--thanks to everyone who made my birthday yesterday absolutely one of the best ever! Trips to TortoiseVille are pretty amazing...but so are the good thoughts and best wishes of a special group of people (that would be Climbers) I consider myself lucky to know in one way or another.

Out of the 0's and back into the 1's...it's gonna be a fantastic year!

Hugs to you all,
L

PS. Sorry to stomp your thread again, Greg......Randy told me to do it...;-)
