Great TR!

Hey - I've got a question for you. My fiancee and I are planning to head to Kalymnos for our honeymoon. Main question we have at this point is what guidebook to get? Also, any tips on where to stay?

Thanks!

glad to read folks like the TR!

Here are few more pics, in the category of what you do on vacation, but probably not at home.

Eat Large Tentacles!

Smoke butts! (On the theory if you can't beat them, join em...)

Flash photograhpy....

a few pics from Douglas.
Watching the show at the Ghost Kitchen. Telendos in the background.

One more kitty...

And another can you find the climber shot on the Panorama wall, just right of the grande grotta. (Hint, he's on an extension.)

Check back for lodging beta....

This is the guide to get, its 2008. Supplements with new routes are available at shops.

As for where to stay folks, I recommend Massouri or Armeos. Anywhere else and you will be doing much scootering about.

We stayed at triantafillos studios in Armeos, which is 100' south of the trailhead to the grande grotta.

Great location, small kitchenette, so so beds, clean sheets and towels.

here is another place in Armeos that looked a bit pricier.

When staying in Armeos, getting breakfast before 9 am can be a problem, so bring a french press and beans. Masouri has one place that opens at 6am, another at 9 am.

this place looked nice, has wifi, and is on the edge of Masouri/Armeos.

this place is just across the street from the above one.

Also in this vicinity is Lambrinos, right at the trailhead to Poets.

And of course Sakis, very popular with climbers.

Make sure to get a room with AC/Heat, kitchentte with dishes, and a window in the bathroom, and a balcony looking over the ocean, and hopefully *screens* on the windows.

Have not been inside any of these though....

have fun out there!

That Super Carp Diem... or whatever it is called... is AWESOME. What a mad pump onsighting that thing was!!!

We got the printout guide from the shop and did just fine. Most of the names and/or grades are painted at the base. I guess if you want pretty pictures and stuff you buy a top quality guide?

Thanks guys... I'm glad you all like the beauty of Greece. I hope more of you go, enjoy and in such a way preserve it. It appears what foreigners appreciate it on the Greek Islands, that is what gets cared for, etc.

I loved that family owned restaurant just before the grand Gratta. I still couldn't pronounce it by the time we left, but they have tons of cool old memorabilia. On Sat they kill a goat (hopefully the one that got into your pack the previous day), serve it in big chunks chopped fresh off the carcass (bones and all), and make fresh spanakopita.

Noufarous was good too.
