Dr. Gill has a pretty fine sense of humor. In a thread several years ago at rc.com, the legendary John Gill had this to say about the equally legendary BURT BRONSON:

Between Chicago / Devils Lake climbers, cavers, occasional transplants, and even a few of us who spontaneously ignited, Southern Illinois always had some thread of climbing going on independent of John's stop in there. BUT, you can pretty well categorically state Southern Illinois climbing might never have gotten serious if he'd simply kept driving.
