Thanks Allie! Ouch, that is, Allen, has gone from someone who was special to a few someone who was very very special to many. I know that my time too will come, I hope I can live my life with the special family closeness and tightness you folks brought to each other.

Thank you again from bringing Ouch to life at his passing for us: it matters. He mattered.

warm regards

Yes Mighty Hiker,
I remember Ouch! posting this a couple years back.
One of my favorite pictures from The Taco.

The photograph predates many of us and shows a lot of soul:

Ouch! and family.

I had to post this one because it is my dad's all-time favorite photo of me. My mom made most of my clothes when I was that age. And our halloween costumes and school play outfits...aaahhhh...She is and has always been just as amazing as he was. They complimented one another well...

I am getting requests for more family photos. I have a bunch of dad that I can get to this weekend and will post a few then. It is hard to find ones that he did not have an animal in that he had just killed! I don't want to offend anyone...haha! He was so often the one behind the camera that there are not as many of him as we got older. He always had a video recorder or a camera in his hand. Something he teased me about up until the end was how I was so embarassed when I was in high school because he would come to my basketball games with his video camera and I thought that the bag he carried it in looked like a purse! haha! He brought that one up quite often...He and my mom never missed our sporting events. Never. Didn't matter what it was...he was at every single one, often driving hours in snow storms to get there. He would'nt have missed one.

I meant to add...the bldg to the left in the back of the pic of my brother and I is where my dad worked. That field is the one I would meet him halfway at and he would have the two bottled cokes and the bag of peanuts he would pour in them and we would walk the rest of the way home together. I have not seen this picture in a long time. We used to swing on the swings there and flip our shoes off and try to get them over the road...that is the gradeschool we went to right across the street from our house and next to dads office! Nice set up! haha.

Very sweet pictures, Allie. You've got your dad's eyes.

What an amazing life he had - a fortunate man, for sure.

BTW, Sam Martin was the name he chose to be a bit anonymous. He worried that many of us are too easy to find and possibly be harassed in real life. He cared about all of us - even those who were not kind to him.

I miss him!

This place isn't the same without him, and we're all the worse for it.

Miss ya, buddy.

Ditto on all the nice things said about the man. I really appreciated that in the middle of a heated or stupid thread, he could bring humor without offending.

Cosmic crags man has been picking up some of that slack recently: Thanks Dwain!
