Haha - picture the mayhem around Southern Sun and Neptunes on 10/9 if they hadn't chosen a better venue. Bunch of drunks beating each other up over positions near the windows. Squeezing room only. Neptune's stampeded and looted. Southern Sun runs out of beer.

I don't know about $100, but at $40 or $50, I agree it would have still sold out.

Anyone want to part with 2 tickets for $60. Missed Neptune's for the dentist this morning and all sold out on AAC. Would hate to miss this one. E-mail me and let's make a deal! Cheers, Andrew

I know that 7k won't pay a lot of bills, assuming he gets 100%. I would hope that the proceeds from any scalping be forwarded.

I think he should consider a second show, though. Perhaps at Boulder Theatre. I think many would want to see him 2x, after the "warm up". Probably be another sell-out, even at $40 or whatever. I think most people know where the money is going. I have extra bucks for that. Boulder Theatre is a fun place. They serve beer. Dinner is nearby. Etc.

OK OK OK!

I'm jumping the gun here, but know that the AAC has been overwhelmed and that as I write this they are searching for a larger venue (much more preferable to having a repeat).

No guarantees yet, but there is hope.

There were people camped outside Neptune's and because of an ISP glitch the onsite sales started prematurely.
If people are pissed they have good reason, but there is no villain here and people ARE working hard to make things right.

Stay tuned, the drama continues,..

Sincere Thanks for your efforts.
It was pretty clear form the onset that it could be huge if the proper venue was chosen.
I understand wanting it in house but Layton is so much bigger than Boulder or even Colorado.

Boulder Theatre is the logical place to have a show, BAG the AAC.
It's just not big enough.....nor appropriate.

Now, I'm holding five tickets.........and the aroma from them is akin to that of fine Cuban cigars......

Update:

The show will be at Mackay Auditorium on the CU campus in Boulder.
It seats 1200.

As I type this efforts are underway to make the tickets for the remaining 850 seats available to all the people that got shut out by the sellout yesterday.

Any suggestions as to how to contact anyone that bought tickets for cash at Neptune's yesterday to tell them it won't be in Golden would be greatly appreciated.
Does anybody know who that could include?

I've got it up on mp.com.

Ron,

Thanks for everything you're doing to make this happen.

Already anticipated the Golden-Boulder lag, but only allowing a half-hour (moved to 7:30), since they're not likely to show at the last minute.

It might actually be possible to reconstruct a roster if people who waited at Neptune's chime in about who they saw,..

Ron,

There were only ten people ahead of me in line and the last two tickets got sold to the two people behind me. I know four of those people. I've called them. Neptune's said they would put up a notice in the shop letting customers know about the change in venue.

I can post something on MTN PROJECT for people to read.......

Does this new change in ticket availability mean I won't get $100 each for my tickets? That was going to fund my roadtrip to Yosemite!!!

Thanks for all your help Ron.......see you at and after the show.

You were kidding, right?
Making 4:1 off of Layton's Benefit Show?

There must be a special place in climber's hell for pulling THAT one!
(I can just see Maestri nudging Harding and asking, "What did HE do?"LOL)

And don't count on seeing me there. I've already had the self-paced private show, and the rocks here are just starting to cool off.

Layton got back from Mexico late last night and had a headache much of today, but McCarthy is already making travel arrangements for the whole Kor family to attend, and after the tall guy and I crunched the numbers on the new bigger room he sounded quite pleased with the value of the effort.

Maybe if this works well he would be inclined to do some larger rooms in a few cities, but there are numerous considerations to be addressed. For now if anybody wants to catch his show (and help him out by going) I'd say this is the only game in town, except it'd be more like this is the only town in the game.

Check this thread (or the AAC website) tomorrow for updates on available tickets.

cheers to all the well wishers, messages received.

There are many people behind the scenes laboring to make this work.
Among them is Steve Bartlett who volunteered in Golden today to help transfer the slides to disc. Most of them are done now.

Well done mate.

If you need any graphics (Maps, drawings, etc.), I'd be happy to help. Lemme know. I can turn 'em around pretty fast.
