hey there russ.. say, them are powerful but true words.... i have grown up with 5 brothers, and have 3 sons, who had 4 male cousins, and 3 male uncles, and have also been around folks with LOTS of guys in the household and--when they dont know when to back down, or clam up, or sit it out, or re-evaluate (or give equal time when no re-evaluations are to be wanted),
or move on,--they're near down for count.... (luckily in many of these cases, all the guys involved were young enough and the "nearby family 'ref's stepped in"..... hmmmm, how much more so, disagreements may flare, if too heavy-spoke, with no reins...

*though, i do see honor in you folks, here on the internet-fires---meaning--you all eventually tend to know how to ref yourselves, if and when, the going gets too tough....

you are climbers, after all, and "know the ropes"... and can thus "handles the pitches"...

Finally, I never understood why people would want to carry on political dialogs with a group of climbers, on a climbing-specific forum. "

LOL!!

Off the top of my head, I've probably started 20 - 30 Mac-related threads since Jan 2002,
and I have posted (especially offering helpful advice) in quite a number of others as well.

Then you have your average Political Pontificator™, who starts 20 - 30 political threads every MONTH.

One thing that is completely puzzling is that there seems to be some need for folks
to post REDUNDANT threads when there's already a discussion going on. Is there a need
to see one's name on the front page? Do those people even bother to READ the other threads?

WTF?

With all due respect fattrad..... there is no way the level of outright shiit talking that goes on here, could have happened at the facelift. If it did, and various commies were still standing, it would reflect poorly on the patriots that were there. Please say it is not so.....

Dunno Russ, I think it's the chickenhawks that would have to be worried.

Us liberal anarchists have a much higher pain tolerance from all the baton beatings and tear gas.

Salad,

No JMT this year as just too many other projects so time ran a bit short. However have pack weight down to 30 pounds now and did a fair amount of research on the whole thing so hopefully next season. Also looking to do a more extended trip on Rainier as well. more than likely the Kautz Route. A little more technical than the Disappointment Cleaver Route. One thing we learned was it might be better to go a little earlier in the season next time on Rainier. More snow and not as diffacult route finding due to crevasses becoming more diffacult later in the season.

I am always thursty.

FACT is too scarce in these parts. LOL! No way would so much of this worthless rhetoric be tolerated around a real fire!!!

Unfortunately, neebee, the anonymity firewall provided by the internet facilitates cowardly behavior not usually exhibited up close and personal. Hence, FACT. This certainly applies to the poli threads, thankfully less so to the climbing threads. But funny how many of the same clowns on the poli threads maintain their same weak sauce on controversial topic climbing threads.

A good measure of character on here is shown by those climbers who maintain civility between each other on the poli threads as well as the climbing ones. Interesting how many of the same 'poor ethics' people seem to line up on the same side politically. No offense to you genuine idealists out there.

McCain/Palin in '08!

I predict the margin of victory will be larger than 2004 including the popular vote. Really sorry to so many of you. Seriously.

rad. i wish had a nick name that started with 'boom boom'. i was dubbed 'the saltiest man in chico', 'satan', and 'charles manson'. all be it by the same dude, but he had a talant for nicknaming.

i must say, even though im not large, and more importantly, a lover not a fighter... if someone addressed me the way some people address people at times here on the taco, i'd be damned if i wouldn't come up swinging.. or at least really fuken pissed...

edit: duh.

edit II. hahaha wtf?

hey there mimi... say, as to your quote:
"Unfortunately, neebee, the anonymity firewall provided by the internet facilitates cowardly behavior not usually exhibited up close and personal."

say, when i was first on the internet, it was only with a about three gals that i know---so i had never known that at first... but it is so true, i had later found out (due to some odd exchanges between some other gals trying "for turf" or something in a certain discussion group:

that was when i learned about all these odd terms, such as flaming, flame warrious, hit and run post, trolls, etc...

thanks for the share... :)

Hardman, agreed. I was just pulling your leg... You rarely make off-topic posts.

I enjoy the political threads up to a point, but it's out of control right now. We're in the middle of the conventions and beginning the end run to the election. It should quiet down after the election.
