i need a partner for cave rock, a brave soul. Anyone psyched?

i want to go Monday for a big session (July 21st) and start climbing there a bunch over the next month in preparation for a trip to mallorca for some DWS.

I'm psyched to try and tick the main cave.

Even if this isn't a troll, please avoid Cave and go practice at Mayhem Cove area.Climbers have a poor enough reputation in the eyes of the public don't be the selfish schmuck that screws others in future access issues.

noah, climbing was banned at Cave Rock. But you can still go there and enjoy it the way it was before climbers were there, i.e. smash some bottles on the ground and leave a big turd.

Don't go to the Cave!

You can't do this there anymore!

Area CLOSED! Going there will only make things worse!

LOL!

It's funny how this simple, blatant truth conveniently gets swept under the carpet.

This place was quite literally a shithole until climbers––and climbers alone––cleaned it up.

Shame on the PC apologists!

Is that lower wall, seacliff area closed as well?

I beleive the whole area is closed. All the articles that I have found refer to the cave itself.
It's a good idea not to risk it.

noah if you pulled that where i am right now, you would get your tires slashed and the broken glass would be from your car's broken windows. and you would be lucky if that's ALL that happened to you.

just sayin'

Cave Rock is CLOSED.

Whether or not we agree with it, that's how it is. Don't mess up future options by climbing there.

Training for DWS? Good luck dropping off a route into shallow enough water to snap your tib/fib, femur.

It would seem that the lower cliff and the Kona Wall would be open. The focus has been on the Cave, but why risk it?

The lower wall is closed too.

I won't and don't recommend going there, but I don't see how it would matter in terms of making things worse.

As far as I know climbers respected the temporary bans for the most part and got screwed anyway.

We could have easily shared access at different times. But that wasn't even an option from the forest circus.

It's funny too how the FS said it's not about religion just impacts to a cultural resource, so the ban would hold up in court. But all climbing is banned and the cave walls are closed. Bouldering wouldn't harm the resource, but that got banned too... B.S.

The things that got the attention of The Washoe were The floor that Dan Osman put in and the fact that women were touching the rock. The route that Grumpy put up, between the tunnels didn't help either.

I recently saw someone climbing the route between the tunnels.

Hurt my face, as I was smiling and frowning at the same time.

climbing at CR despite the ban is fundamentally uncool no matter how you try to justify it

banning activities for sexist, religous reasons is more fundamentally uncool than climbing.

I'm with the Fet.

Though, I think, as a show of goodwill, it would be best to stay off until this is settled. It will not be settled until we have the same 'rights' as those who are hoarding this public resource for their own selfish purposes. It will be settled.

We will climb there again, can we get over this nonsense, already?

Sorry to bring this back up to the top, after it's been drifting into the pit for a few months.

However, after stopping at the boat launch yesterday to drain the bladder I noted two climbers heading towards the lower cave. I personally respect the FS's ban on climbing, though it isn't really posted anywhere that the area is closed to climbing. Even in the Falcon guide there is no notable mention that it has been placed as off-limits to climbing.

Just passing the word that people are still climbing there.

Also, as a side note, was the hardware not removed after the ban went into effect? I was under the impression that it was. This was the first time I've visited Cave Rock since the ban, and I noted quite a few fixed draws hanging around.

Anyway, if the climbers who were there yesterday read this, please respect the closure. It's closed. Go somewhere else and deal with it.

I suggest getting drunk throwing beer cans around and trying your best to look Native American...If anyone questions you climbing at Cave Rock, tell them you are doing a ceremonial/spiritual PowWow to the great Spider Elder.

Geez, Drill a big tunnel through the rock and no big deal, try to climbi on the thing and it is disgracing the Holiness of the rock...

Great idea! Anyone up for the cave today?

(knott for climbing, I thought we could smash some bottles, shít and piss all over the place,
in other words, help restore Cave Rock to a knott-so-pristine, pre-climber-inhabited condition)

The cops busted my friend climbing there and he got a $200 ticket. I think it is ok to break bottles and do your business in the cave though, just don't touch the rock or you will steal it's mojo.

Dressing as Indians while engaging in acts of civil disobedience is The American Way, a tradition as old as The United States itself.

Ever heard of The Boston Tea Party? Those dudes weren't wearing dashikis.
