We always called them "limp wristed, face climbing, art fags" BITD.
Eldo Prancer is way more poetic.

That poor man.

He had to go almost out to the arette to get away from that nasty white powder all over everything, and find a clean bit of rock to cling to.

Hahaha! Nice find jaybro. Sadly the guy confesses he's not one. That would have been a great name for a climbing clothing and chalkbag Mfg company, instead of say...Verve...:-)

Two art degrees and a handlebar mustache - I figured I'd be called an Eldo Prancer sooner or later.

An Eldo Prancer is someone who can also climb rock that is NOT granite....not normally part of the Cali skill set.

Another Russism of great value is "to go all death panel on someone".

Bill Fowler had lots of names for those of us who were climbing there before it became a State Park. Names we can't use on a public forum! ;)

Sneaking in was a highly refined art form in itself...

Yes indeed....Eldo climbing needs the precise technique that "prancer" implies. Granite groping and sandstone swarming methods simply won't do.

Yep...the stick clip prancers of Boulder Canyon stand out. Precise prancing technique is more easily accomplished with bolts never more than a body length away.

Having climbed in Wales, which rewards a similar style, I can say with some assurance that a
term like that would not be bandied about there for long with the same number of front teeth.

Dental hygiene being a foreign concept in Wales, front teeth are not much in evidence even without out the help of a knuckle sandwich.
