LEB may not exactly qualify as my alter ego but after very recently losing a very dear sister-in-law, sharing in the loss of Woody, my old friend Stimson Bullitt, two business acquaintenances (via murder), and the imminent loss of a very dear canine, I'm having a very hard time working up any amount of animosity towards anyone.

Happy birthday LEB

Peace,

Reilly

It's an open forum
Open to anyone
Open to anything
Get it?

I would think that if anyone felt this way, it would be you.

edit: A belated Happy Birthday to you Lois.

"Believe me, no one “drove” her anywhere..... What she told me is that she got tired of all the negativity here as it was directed at her and tired of people attributing all sorts of weird motives to her posting on ST."

Ummmm.....isn't negativity directed at someone pretty much the same thing as driving that person away? I find it quite odd that someone would try to attribute her (temporary?) cessation of posting to some sort of noble motive. The % of people she was driving batty grew after some idiotic statements she made in a time of great stress in other people's lives, and with less support and more vitriol headed her way, things were not as fun around the campfire anymore, so off she went.

I hope LEB is having a good day, and if it is her birthday, that it is a happy one. Her behavior around here was really weird on a consistent basis - most of us are weird on occasion (I certainly have been), but on this forum she was just out in left field all the time.

My own enjoyment of the SuperTalko is enhanced by the (temporary?) cessation of her pollution posting.....but that has not changed my ratio of "enjoyment to dollar spent", if you get what I am saying.

And one way or the other, she had one of the most profound impacts on the forum, no? Even when Russ was gone for a while, I don't think he got mentioned this much.

Perhaps there is something to be learned here.

1. An open forum is open to a person as long as they feel it is time well spent. This is normal.
2. If Lois was disruptive it was because we reacted to her well past the point where it was clear there was little commonality.
That was kind of odd.
3. Had she typed less and composed more carefully her effect might have been larger.
This is speculative but normal.
4. She is a fighter.
This is desirable.
5. She had the ability to come back courteous and smiling no matter what.
This is highly desirable. Actually rather rare.
6. You seldom could change her take on things.
Entirely normal.

That's about it. The one question remaining is why did we react to her as we did? Odd it seems to me.

Perhaps we can do better.

A community tends to shun those it perceives as different.
This is normal

I would think that this community would be different.
This would be desirable

I hope that the new job is going well and occupies more of your time than ST does.
