Okay, okay, I was startin' to have second thoughts about him when that eraserhead thing appeared about 8,000 times (though 8,001--"Jaybro Kicks Ass"--buckled me) but THIS has to be one of the best OT threads ever. It's Donny's "Slaughterhouse Five".
I remember when Purnell Roberts announced that he was leaving the show because he didn't want to ever act like a "child" reporting to Papa in such a "demeaning" roll. I also rememeber that my own Dad was outraged by such a decision. I said" "But, Daddy, he is right. His role IS demaning." My, Dad, ever one be conservative with a penny, told me sternly that he was quite sure the money he (Purnell) was making was NOT in anyway demaning.
I wonder if families still watch TV together? We used to go to the movies together as a family, also.
The following stanza begins the twenty-stanza ballad:
Born on a mountain top in Tennessee,
Greenest state in the land of the free.
Raised in the woods so's he knew every tree,
Killed him a b'ar when he was only three.
Davy, Davy Crockett
King of the Wild Frontier
Edit: Now that I've provided you all with ear candy for the day, the other nineteen stanzas seem unnecessary.
