Cracko, considering your on the road trip reports are usually something like
"I've got it in my hand now. OHHHHHHHHHH, YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"...

I hate 'em. I can't stand it when people are talking on them in public. I really think it's about as rude as you can be. If I was standing in line at the store, and two people were having a conversation into the back of my head at volume ten, you can bet I'd give them the same evil eye that I do when a person on a phone does it too. But that never seems to happen, just phone talkers. When I see someone in public talking on one and being incredibly annoying (and there are ways to use them in public and not be annoying) I'll do something like take out my wallet, open it up and start talking into it, or take off my shoe and hold it up to my head and start yakking into it.
Yet, I have a cell phone.
Basically, mine is always off. Always. So, in effect its a mobile answering machine that I can use to call people back with.
For this purpose, it's great.

Gnat, I did shoot mine! But the riccochet caught Dave Vellone (The Real Two) in the sac, and he hasn't posted here since. The damn things are dangerous, I tell ya!

Cell phone coverage dies long before you get to the climbing where I go. It's back in a small steep-sided valley. Quite cool, cause I hate phones, ESPECIALLY when I'm trying to enjoy a climb. It's also a good spot because there's unlimited climbing potential for both new routes and routes where there will never be a soul in sight even on the weekends.

Yes, guns are dangerous. Please use caution when shooting your cell phone. Or simply run over it with your oversized SUV and dump the remains in one of those bear proof trash cans.
As for the genius who thinks I use my cell phone to post on the INTERNET.... Try thinking next time.

Why would I want it to work everywhere?
Then I'd have no excuse for not calling my wife back.

Gnat,
My SUV is a Corolla and it didn't do a damn thing to my cell phone, so I was forced to buy a gun (and contradict myself on still another front!) Hey, what about a thread titled
"SUV Traction Where You Climb?"
PS The stonewalling, Hoover High grad, fat bastard who caught the riccochet deserved every bit of it, so I'm not quite as anti-NRA as I used to be.

So -- even tho I know everyone hates 'em...
If I wanted cell phone coverage in The Valley ... at this point is my only real option to go through Golden State Cellular? Since all that cingular is now offering is GMS?
Any word if the towers will be updated anytime?

dddorg, I'm told that if you bug AT&T/Cingular enough, they will still give you a TDMA account.

The 4G LTE service from Verizon uses the 700 MHz frequency band which was once used for analog TV. If you want to boost your 4G LTE with Verizon, look for a tri-band or five band Verizon cell phone signal booster to fit your needs
