zb, i remember music appreciation class; but i didn't appreciate it as much back then (classical) as i do now. it grew on me from living with music students and being married to a cellist and oboist.

Any of you LA folks see the punk band "X" a little back in the day. Their music always, and forever, gives me such stoke...I listen to them on my IPOD whenever I am on a ski lift.

By late spring of 2008 the original quartet had embarked upon its winkingly termed 31st anniversary tour, taking the band's complex yet direct musical fusion into a fourth decade with flair and energy. The continuing popularity and critical acclaim of Americana and roots music indicate that the core sound of X has really never gone out of style even as it has evolved away from pure punk. As such, this is a reunion that is particularly welcome in an age when so many other '80s artists of much greater prominence long ago exceeded their saturation points. Here's hoping appreciation for this great band continues to rise.
devotees of punk hung out at the Oki Dog - not far from the Sunset Grill, neither of which were too far from where I lived on Camino Palmero.

sort of. if you look at the picture of Little Joe's hard enough you can discern the hog wire (put up temporarily to keep the Molotov cocktails from getting through) during a localized riot.
