Jack Bruce, John McLaughlin & Ginger Baker played in a jazz group in the early 60's. Much to Mouse's displeasure I just read where Bruce and Baker were fighting back then and were actually sabotaging each other's equipment (wikipedia).
Say hey splitter (down the road apiece) Hynson has some interesting reflections on what he was doing BITD, wrote a book.
On an opposite wall is a black-and-white Warner Brothers production still from the acid-drenched 1972 Jimi Hendrix “concert” film Rainbow Bridge, in which Hynson surfs waves in Maui and cracks open a surfboard to reveal a bag of smuggled hashish.
zBro - yea, that opening surf sequence is Honolua Bay (in thefull concert/movie. those surfers and their vehicles are on the cliff above it. Hinson, was part owner in a surfboard co. named rainbow surfboards. they use to smuggle hash over from afganistan in boards etc! I have read stuff about the opertion, not sure how true the surfboard part of it was, but they were def smuggling sh#t into the country. he was involved with 'the brotherhood' i think. it's been a while since i read about those things. in the movie, rainbow bridge, Hinson is sitting in some pad in the islands and they have one of his 'rainbow surfboards' and they cut it open and take out the hash. i need to get that book. prollie pretty cool! i'm watching the 'full concert' now! thnx
