Jeez Mustang...if you don't stop being so happily optimistic, I'll have to send you a bullet or something. Just kidding, of course.
It's easy to throw up your hands in disgust, say it's a done deal, and do nothing to try to improve things. But the real kudos go to those who keep the faith in the face of sure defeat. The ones who keep taking those tiny steps towards a sustainable future, even when the Jolly Mean Cheneys stomp on 'em.
In the game of life, you get no points for just giving up.

WB,
Yeah, it's an illusion that we are eventually going to get "there." We're screwed, long-term. That's the future for humans, and for a lot of vertebrates similar to us. But on a scale of hours, days, weeks--even years, there's still such a thing as keeping your conscience with you, trying to exhibit the best people have to offer. What is saving people's asses, or collecting their remains? Just a job? What motivates you?

My motivation is to see that you save your own soul.
Then I can learn from you the real things.
I have no real ultimate interest in mundane material knowledge.

If people would do a better job at raising their kids. This includes less divorce and less unwanted pregnancy.

Thanks for posting up, Peter.
She DOES say that she's spent 10 years studying the system. So I imagine she has a good grasp of the underlying complexities, despite her simplistic presentation.
It is easy to criticize the way she takes a stance. But you can't fault her for trying. Besides, didn't it make you stop and think for at least a minute?

Sorry, but saying we are all screwed anyways is a cop out. We know that the US is 30% of the problem, and we are the ones with the best chance of actually doing something. Here's an idea, instead of killing people how about leading by example and being a true superpower vs just a super bully?
Here is my reason for doing everything I can so help the environment.
If we all wait around for everyone else to do something eventually the US will be the dump that the rest of the world sends their crap to.
Edit: thanks for the post Peter, it is a great film to share with other people.
