In the Company of Fur
To pet their furry faces
Rub exposed their belly skins
Soft hair to me or course
Nudging head to foot
Bolting forth through open door
Hillside shrubs a swallowing
That bounding puppy bliss
It sells like hotcakes
And moaning at my feet
They know me like no other
Nothing I could ever say
Convinces them otherwise
In so peopled a place
If I were choose
I'd prefer to keep
The company of fur

Craig,
Your Pal and Lizzie looked to be the best of buds. I could spend the rest of my days writing odes to dogs and cats, to our furry or feathered friends. I lost my sweet Harri Dunn back in June...almost lost my Emma dog too. So happy she's back to her old tricks now. Never thought I could love a cat so much as Harri. Still miss her every day...always an empty place in my life where she once prowled. But she' still in my mind somewhere, catching mice and sleeping all day long.
My condolences for your loss.

My Great Pyrenees/Lanseer pups are now almost five months. They sleep with their eyes open. Has anyone heard of this? I imagine it is a trait of guardian type dogs. Weird but cool.
