Wayno, so sorry! I know how hard losing these guys is....here's a pic of our/my beloved Pisco, who died suddenly in November. Still miss his soft face and boundless love. Know that your buddy lived a great life with his favorite humans!

This morning was really sad. I didn't see my buddy curled up at the foot of the bed this AM. Nor did I hear the click of his toenails on the floor or his panting breath waiting to go check out the yard and the squirrels. This could take some time.
Thank you all for your kind words of sympathy. It really does help.

Wayno,
Sorry for your loss. Our furry friends bring so much to our lives.
We had to put down our faithful chessie Indy a year and a half ago. Best dog I've ever had.

**tears for your lost pard wayne. You gotta live on for that next miracle, be it canine or human.
And yes! Pisco looks to be a fine animal. Well-named, too
**Worst job ever, Paul. But like a true pal, when I get that dementia, I hope my boys will do what is right, eminently kind and painless and quick.

'Do Dogs believe in God?'
When dogs evolve to speak,
One million years from now,
Would they say we were weak,
To believe in God somehow?
Or would dogs believe in God,
Would they try to show us how?
Or were they ever to endure,
That we turn over a new leaf?
Would they inherit all the earth,
So humbly as the meek?
With paws so close to mishap,
And danger manifest,
At the hands of former masters,
Who had promised them the best.

'Do Dogs believe in Science?'
When dogs evolve to speak,
One million years from now,
Would they say we were weak,
To believe in God somehow?
Or would dogs believe in science,
Would they try to show us how?
Or were they ever to endure,
That we turn over a new leaf?
Would they inherit all the earth,
So aptly as the robots?
With paws so close to mishap,
And danger manifest,
At the hands of former masters,
Who had promised them the best.

This thread can rip me to pieces at times, this is one of them.
Bless all these animals we are praising on this thread ,right from the beginning.
They truly are innocents, living for us.
As I type I am reminded of my own .I went to the vet today with my oldest Seamus and found that he not only broke his leg but I was told he would not heal for he has bone cancer[an aggressive type]and I must be prepared for a final decision .
His mobility at issue,he is a large Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
He is 13 and has lived a fantastic life.
Chiloe,I want to thank you personally for providing this outlet,it is as innocent as those we talk of here.
Kind Regards, wilbeer

Hey Wilbeer, I like your dog. I like it even more that he has partnership with a kind and good human. Cheers for Seamus! I know that you both will savor these days.

So sorry Wilbeer. I don't know which is worse, being presented with such a choice suddenly or knowing for a long time that the decision is pending and will have to be made. Both are terrible dilemmas. I'm sure you will make the best decision in this difficult time and comfort Seamus to the end. Again sorry that it had to happen at all.

It is never easy this "art of death" especially with these animals that we value so. There is something about the service we can provide to alleviate the pain. When we put Boris down last week, I just hoped that someone could help me in that regard when and if the time came. Kinda weird, maybe, but it did occur to me. Condolences, Willbeer.

It was as Wayno had said ,we get to make this decision, but it still does not feel great.
