Another great report Tom! Thanks. Hope your home is okay, and why is it that some people take these reports so serously?
Cheers,

tom-
not sure if you are talking to me (seems like just yeasterday that you were thanking me for my 2 cents), but i'd say nobody is taking your writing seriously, least of all me, and if you look close enough, you'll see where i said above that i never have thought you were intentionally mean to anyone, and that i enjoy your reports in general.
that said, i have never once been to a cragg w/ others present when there wasn't someone, at some time, doing something that seemed worthy of snickering or ridicule. there is plenty going on to write about without telling someone to take it to another cliff at the other end of the valley (because you can so plainly see from the bridge that they are not up for it). that's all i am/was saying, and i will feel that way whether or not i take you seriously.
i guess i think pointing out the flaws in the style of famous climbers is not the same as pointing out the weaknesses of regular joes, it seems kinda like that farm raised pheasant hunting that dick cheney is so fond of- not much sport in that, but hey if it makes you feel good, knock yourself out, it's legal i guess...
even in the age of iphone posts on ST from the bivey, climbing is not about what the peanut gallery thinks of you, at least i hope it's not come to that (yet).

Matt, give it a rest dude.
I for one look forward to Toms post everyday, and when they make me laugh it's even better. Something about living vicariously through others experiences I guess...and counting the days till it can be me he's posting about...
Some people have instructed Tom to not post on their climb, and he is respectfull of that. That's good enough.

my sense is you had a few Cobras before posting this one ! I'd call it my favorite El Cap report so far!

Mr. Tom, I agree with all the positive posts you have gotten about this report...it could be your current opus magnus! It has the tone and delivery of the character "Chris", on the old Northern Exposure show. I think you are a good writer and a fine wit. Keep them coming.

Whoever that "greg" character is that bailed off of the trip must be a real hoser :D I heard those gumbies only got two pitches of LIA done before a ledge party.
Thanks for the reports, Tom. Your a great service to climbers and freinds alike! Now, back to some more of that *shudder* 'free climbing.'
