I must be one of the few people alive whom Fred Beckey has actually cooked a meal for. We were only a couple hours late getting back to camp, but you could tell he was worried.

There is no official Black Book. More like a selection of Fedex folders with old maps, pages torn from guidebooks, photos with distant peaks circled, and ink-stained napkins, all held together with rubber bands and (in one case) girl's hair elastic scrunchies.
