My high school graduation trip was to MCRD San Diego, there was a war on (is there ever NOT a war on someplace???) - certainly one of the biggest adventures of my life. Seriously, I would not trade those experiences for anything.

I graduated high school in 1973.

A week later the jet landed in Oslo and I began a summer sojourn across Europe solo at the age of 17. Aarhus, Copenhagen, Hamburg, by boat and train. Drove to Montreaux with two guys from a Florida who had bricks of hash hidden in their car. Then I went to Munich, Salzburg and Brig. From there it was Rome and then Florence, Madrid, to Pamplona for the running of the Bulls, then Zurich, Geneva, Paris, Amsterdam, and London.

I so fondly remember the care free fun of my post graduation trip.

I got a job at the Evansville Plating Works. Worked over an unvented chromium tank. Loved the spontaneous nosebleeds. Hard to believe that hasn't killed me yet.

It's a superfund sight now.

I skipped graduation and went to boot camp at Parris Island. The Marine Corps basically sucked except for the year I spent in school at an Air Force base in Denver. Learned to ski in the winter, backpacked in the Rockies in the summer. It kinda changed my life.

I dropped out of Highschool in 85' just before graduation.

With one surfboard and a small backpack, I took Tres Estrellas bus lines down to Michoacan for four weeks.

I smoked weed, surfed and survived off tortillas, Maria's, peanut butter and warm beer in total bliss.

My home was a rented a palm hut for 2 bucks a night and I slept perfectly fine in colorfully woven hammock.

My parents were so pissed but it was a great time.

I too graduated in 1973 and with my buddy Chip (passenger side of the Datsun) took off on a nice long road trip from Orlando to Yosemite.
