The man is a poet who once wrote, "You can grunt and heave, sweat and strain, wear yourself out, and unless you simply forget about it and step up, you won't even get off the ground."

Another quote that Werner will enjoy, "It's so good and wonderful and so other-earth-other-sky transcendentally different in Yosemite that I could spend a dozen karmic cycles there and not exhaust the place."

The man is Mike Borghoff

Nobody famous, just 3 friends (February 1969), but it's a meaningful photo for me.
The next day I almost got killed.

Not exactly parking lot shots, but a snapshot of the Zion hang, late 80's early 90's:

Thanks Walleye, It must have been a big trip as I note both our family vehicles in the parking lot. The big b&w van with another kiddo sitting in door, and the red chevy truck with Dan sitting in back ! : ))

Should have had tshirts made....Mom and Dad brought me this shirt from another parking lot we slept in. hahaha

Yep, that's the Rock House. Fantastic tree house, parties in the back, topos all over the walls, everybody welcome. The Todd Gordon house of Zion. But alas, no longer.

That pool was right after a huge landslide, Mark Austin lost his house.

Nice old pic, Mimi! Fish and Tucker and me, but who is the fellow on the left?

Great photo Chiloe. You cannot see the Ahwahnee Hotel from that view anymore as the
forest is too thick.

Thanks, Walleye. When I posted it I was thinking the photo could have been taken any
time. I didn't realize that it actually did include some historical info.
