I didn't spend as much time in the parking lot as the locals...

Anyone remember the Rangers on a full blown stake out looking for a BASE jumper back in the mid eighties? They were stopping anyone who even remotely fit the description and knew that he had spent the night in the SAR site.

Yeah, that was a close one. They were in plain clothes all over the place yacking to each other on the radio. Fortunately I was able to hear it all.

What was weird was we didn't even jump anything the night before. They wanted this one guy in a bad way.

"Stakeout" doesn't even begin to cover it!

Shelly and I were asleep in the PleasureDome™ way out in the North 40, Upper Pines or something, when the Rangers came knocking very early one morning to grill us on the whereabouts of a particular jumper. (Jonathan RIP).

Apparently TeamStakeout™ thought we knew something. Following a jump from Glacier Point, they were making their interrogation rounds in Camp Four where Little Sue innocently told them straight away exactly where we might be found! Not like we were hiding out or on the lamb or anything … just not so easy to find … after they left we about died laughing that Sue spilled the beans on our whereabouts so easily.

not sure this was the same event but a base jumper put it out there that he was going off the lost arrow, then jumped ypb while all eyes were on the tip. rangers were pissed as never before. i was a pitch below with a motodrive camera catching the action as he went by. stashed the chute in the talas and made a clean get away, though injured. sadly, john is no longer with us.

Nahhh...not the same one. A lot of C4 regulars were involved in the escape out of the park.

They were after the two most wanted on Earth, meaning these two hypothetical people never told anyone Jack.

It was pretty wild. I never got busted. I had to run for it here and there around the country, but I never got nailed.

Nobody has been seriously injured around me, either. I am a lucky charm.

I remember the making of the legend... I had no idea there was a camera there... or I wouldn't have put my hands so close to your ass.

Just got some old Yos pictures from Mike White that deserve to be seen. I think he got some of them from Fig

TM Herbert reaching for a concerned Whitey. Dennis Miller in the background with Chris Bonnington on the right.

Bob Ashworth indicating his displeasure. I think that’s Dale Bard’s panel truck in the background.

Crappy photo. Drone Stephens sitting on the rock. Whitey in the foreground. I don’t recognize anyone else.
Here’ a classic. Peggy Bridwell and Jim Pettigrew sitting on a car in the Annex parking lot across from the gas station.

I kinda remember Pettigrew being like an African honey badger-unpredictable and volitile. That expression on his face is priceless.

Here’s Drone, Brossman and Fig at a table in Camp 4

Drone at the wheel of his broken down Caddie. Whitey in the middle on the roof. I have no idea who any of the others are.

Blinny, you knew a different Pettigrew than many of us did. I reunited with him 10 years or so ago and he was a completely different person than he was in the 70’s.
