Timid: I guess you are saying all these posters have taste, but it is only found in their mouths?
My take on it is one man's meat is another man's poison.
FM radio, under the guise of "classic rock", took a bunch of music and played it over and over ad nauseam to the point that if you heard the song again you would scream. FM would also skip over the best music of some of these guys created (Steve Miller Band comes to mind).
Although I can definitely say there are plenty of bands or musicians I can't handle listening to (Styxx comes to mind, Dave Matthews another) they didn't become household names without having some talent.
Same goes for writers, some are great but I just can't read their works. People, including myself, rant and rave about some books and other people can't get past the first chapter.
I like the other music thread better, put up what you are listening to, if someone clicks on it and likes it fine. On the other hand if they don't like it they skip down to the next post.

I know it's all in good fun, but Skynard covered "the breeze" that JJ Cale. Check him out. Eric Clapton made a career out of that guy during the 70's. Cocaine, after midnight- JJ Cale songs.
Say what you will about Springsteen- Nebraska is one of the best albums of all time.
Eddie Money- hey what's not to like, the guy is who he is- nothing more, nothing less.

As far as I'm concerned, Eddie Money's first album is a classic, he has the classic rock voice. I love his cover of "You Really Got a Hold on Me", best version ever.
I remember when he used to be the host on that late night rock show Midnight Special. There were some great performances on that show. Classic groups of the day and a peek into the future when we saw The Cars. They may seem pretty normal nowadays, but back then, we didn't know what to think.

They really should be shot for ruining "Behind Blue Eyes" in the way they did.

Went to the Bridge School Benefit Concert this weekend. Great show with one huge exception. You better put Guns And Roses at the top of this list. Pitiful display of 'entertainment'.

If you enjoy reading music reviews, check out the Rolling Stone Record Guide, 1979, by Dave Marsh and John Swenson (red cover). The later version (blue cover) isn't as good, but worth having. Real cheap on Amazon. Some of the reviews are brutal and hilarious. My copies are packed somewhere or I'd quote a few. When I dig them up, I'll bump this thread with some classic quotes.
