(Possibly just a placeholder, until someone posts on behalf of the YCA.)

Yosemite Facelift 2019

The dates for Facelift 2019 are September 24th through September 30th. Camping requests may be sent to camping@yosemiteclimbing.org no earlier than 12:01 AM PDT on May 1, 2019.

The email address for camping is changing in 2019. The new email address is camping@yosemiteclimbing.org. We have transitioned from the gmail account.

Camping requests are limited to maximum 4 people. In your request, include:
1) your name,
2) your email address,
3) the number of people in your request,
4) the additional names of people in your party (max. 4 people),
5) check-in date (starting 9/24/19),
6) check-out date (latest 10/1/19),
7) choice of campground (Upper Pines, Camp Four, Yellow Pines, Crane Flat, or Tuolumne),
8) whether you can camp outside the Valley (Y/N), and
9) whether you would like to be place on the waitlist (Y/N).

Win extra points (there aren't really points, camping is first come, first served)! Create a spreadsheet like the one below, fill in the bottom row, save it, and attach it to your email request.

Requests are filled in the order they are received.

They will delete all requests sent prior to this time.

Stay up to date on the Facelift 2019 page: http://www.yosemiteclimbing.org/facelift-2019-1

The YCA pays for the camping sites, so please only request camping if you're committed; cancellations count. And if you have reserved camping and your plans change, please let the YCA know asap.

PELA Case Product Launch

The Yosemite Climbing Association is proud to introduce the Yosemite PELA case, made from plant-based plastic, which biodegrades in two years in a home compost and six months in industrial compost! 5% of sales go to the YCA. For your next phone case, consider this more environmentally responsible choice and let your phone service provider know about this great option! We love the PELA case because it reminds us that there might be sustainable choices for all the products we buy. Special thanks to artist Silas Rutland, who designed the Yosemite artwork design, featured on the case. See the product at: https://pelacase.com/collections/limited-edition-yosemite-cases

The YCA website says "Camping requests may be sent to camping@yosemiteclimbing.org no earlier than 12:00 AM PDT on May 1, 2019."

Does that mean 12:00 noon tomorrow, or 12:00 midnight tonight?

Why documents often now say 12:01 AM or 12:01 PM.

The new Avengers movie features time travel, too.

(Perhaps for 2020, it should be "9:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time", or the equivalent in UTM for the persnickety. Anyway, it's not hard to set a system to send a message at a fixed time, as long as it's on.)

Hi All,

Last year, we received some requests that were sent really early, May 1st on the East Coast, but still April 30th on the West Coast. We were trying to resolve this confusion. Honestly, I hadn’t considered the inconvenience of needing to send a request at midnight, we were just trying to communicate that the window opened May 1st on the West Coast. Next year, we’ll set a reasonable start time; too late now, for this year. I can’t guarantee anything to anyone till I see the level of insanity when I check the inbox tomorrow, but most likely, if you email camping@yosemiteclimbing.org at a reasonable time in the morning, tomorrow, Wednesday, May 1st (on the West Coast), you’ll have a shot at getting a confirmed spot.

I hope this helps... We’ll see.

Best,
Allyson

If peeps back east send in requests at 12:01 AM tomorrow, that'd be 03:01 their time... And for Viktoria, in Budapest, that'd be something like 10:01 her time...

No wonder Fernão de Magalhães' (Magellan's) surviving crew were confused when they arrived home to find they misplaced a day during their first circumnavigation.

I sent mine in at 0809 PDT, and got an autoresponse saying that reservation requests would start at 12:00 AM PDT. Although the future tense concerns me, I assumed that the response was programmed prior to May 1, so I will sit here fat, dumb and happy assuming I wasn't too early.

Got what I hope is the correct reply at 00:03 this morning. It is amazing how arduous it was to compose an email at that time of day. I had the alarm set to go off at 1145, and decided to get the email ready early. Ended up taking until midnight!
