A separate thread could probably be started just for bad Costner movies :)
Aerique (OP) just remembered he also walked out of "Waterworld". I turned off a video (yes VCR) of "The Postman" about 20 minutes in. Thankfully didn't pay to walk into a theater on that one..

Damn! That reminds me that Cliffhanger isn't the only movie I've walked out of. After about twenty minutes in the theater, my then wife, our two kids, and I all -- more or less simultaneously -- all realized that just about anything would be better than having our minds evaporated by any more of the stupidity of that film.

Vertical Limit...what a riot. I own a DVD copy that I had Ed Viesturs sign. Hilarious.
We use "amateurs at 12 o'clock, check your safety" at the crag quite often.
Strap on the nitro!

Dead Ringers - the 1988 version - only movie in a theater I’ve ever walked out of.
I’ve turned off many rentals at home - Raging Bull the most recent - painfully bad.
I saw Vertical Limit 2x in theaters - so bad it’s good.

I guess this doesn't count, but my mother was visiting and my wife and I took her to a local production of 'Hello Dolly'. The theater group had put on some good shows, but this one.... When intermission finally came I finally spoke up and suggested maybe this wasn't too good. Didn't want to offend my mother, who is a lovely lady, but fortunately we all had the same thoughts, so we walked out. The production was worse than a high school musical.

Was enjoying it. Nice characters and biology up to shortly after the thing came out of the guy's gut. Next time we saw it it was about 10 feet tall? My suspension-of-disbelief needs work. Anyway, I later found out the rest was just haunted house in space.

Leaving Las Vegas. It was clear that he was going to drink himself to death and she was going to be sexually brutalized. Good movie, but I just wasn't in the mood to watch those endings.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence. Laughably bad.

Saving Private Ryan.
I went with my Father, a WWII vet who was first wave onto the beach twice in the Pacific theater. I could tell he was getting uncomfortable as the men boarded the landing raft. When the shooting started he grabbed me by the arm and said "I'm out of here."

@ Kris^? I didn't walk out of Saving Private Ryan but I wanted to. ( I was the driver for a group who wanted to stay) The camera motion made me seasick shortly into the film. I had to keep my head between my knees the entire movie.
@ Blinny- who the fvuck " recommends a movie like "Dead Ringers" ?

Not in the theater, but an online rental that a friend wanted to watch.
127 Hours, the story of Aron Ralston in Blue John canyon.
I knew from the beginning that I didn't need any reminders that this stuff can happen. After 15 minutes of watching I went for a bike ride instead.
